Why not run Win XP (or even NT) in a VM on the Win2008 server box instead of 'throwing up a linux box or something'?
As a side note I am not sure why the server would not run on Win2008 server. I have zero experience with Win2008 however.

Throwing a VM up on a linux box I said.. the blade chassis holding the 2k8 server also has 9 linux servers, a couple of which are basically idle right now.
As for choosing to run the Vmware server on linux rather than windows. I like linux.

Thanks for sticking with this wob,
Hopefully, it will be straight foward getting the server to work on a virtual machine.
Let me know if I can help at all.

@WOB
Since 2008 is a "flexible" server system(read pain in the ass). You need to gimme a system dump on the 2008 so i can see what roles and features you got installed, plus Firewall settings... etc etc.
Im gonna make a wm 2008 system from your setup so i can debug you faulty installation!..
EDIT: Ohhh the event viewer.. what do that write

You are aware the 3FL servers are running in the beta lobby and not the main lobby, right?

Yes, as of today because I finally got a chance to setup the XP server in a VM and get AllSrv running. The machine is on a new IP that TE needs to approve. I pointed it at the beta lobby to make sure it was actually working before I hassled TE to update the public lobby *again*
