I do have spec refs for each team, one per side. I've also made several "treasure sectors" with an insane amount of He3, so money shouldn't be a problem, though initially it might be a bit of a pain. Although, if we start at Rib or Out9 or whatever, things should progress fine until these "treasure sectors" are found. Also, w/ "plentiful" settings, my map shows approx 73 he3 per asteroid... it's not much, but with so many sectors, you can just build a billion refs (the he3 will also fill up as the game goes on, assuming that the map will make for a multiple hour game).
I also think that when we do this, Giga will be outlawed, because Giga would pretty much dominate on this map no matter what. Dreg maybe, too, since they could spam he3 refs.
edit:
Also, I'd really appreciate it if you guys *wouldn't* log onto the FAZ servers and test out the map... I think it'd be more fun for everybody if the layout was a mystery to everybody.

I like the "treasure sector" idea - very nice idea.
Of course what we really need is to make the minimap 100% bigger (1.41x bigger in width & height) to fit a bigger "mini"-map in, would that require a code change or is there some variable somewhere we could change?

Keep up, Para! I already said that the starting bases are no further away than they are in East West. When the game happens, I'll give each team general instructions on where to go to find the enemy (as in "Go up" or "Go down")Globemaster_III wrote:QUOTE (Globemaster_III @ Mar 5 2007, 01:44 PM) why settle for 100 sectors ? why not go for 200 sectors.
now i am really lost..

Another thought: make the column of sectors down the middle (8 of them according to IB's minimap) rocks-free. No rocks at all means no bases so it's kinda like the no-man's land in a trench war.
Maybe? No? Heh.
Edit: woot! I can vote now. Thank you massively stupid idea for special jawsomness!

W00T!!!! this is hardcore!!! good luckBacon_00 wrote:QUOTE (Bacon_00 @ Mar 4 2007, 01:12 AM) Alright kittens, Cam just came up with a really stupid idea, but I'm going to actually do it because that's what I do.
Cam was like "JOMG BACON! LETZ MAKE A MAP OF 100 SECTORS! ROFLZ!"
And I was like "Superb idea, young Camaro! Perhaps we could create a delightful sunday special game around this insane idea!"
And Cam was like "$#@! YEAH."
So tonight I am going to begin construction on an insane map that will be absurdly easy to get lost in. It will be incredible. There will be a special sunday game several months from now around this stupidly large map. It won't be impossible to find the enemy initially, though, so it won't be like one of those "Yeah we resign because we can't find each other" POS games. Because that actually happens in Alleg.
So this is a really dumb idea and I'm pretty sure it won't work, but it's going to happen anyway. And you'll all be there because that is what I demand.
