Rushing Spec Refs

First he'd have to join GB.
And then get kicked out.
And then join SysX.

I would expect an ACS instructor to know more about settings.Drizzo wrote:QUOTE (Drizzo @ Jul 26 2008, 02:13 AM) Scarce+ puts 2 tech rocks in every sector.
It doesent. Go read your own material, if its even in there.
Im sorry Drizzo, but you lack strategic ability. There are so many things wrong with your post-mortem, in fact its pretty much all wrong except for the fact that the other commander was a noob (I asked for a vet command, he wanted to do it anyway.) There is a 4 sector gap between home's, and two separate directions, with two separate paths each, making for four possible routes.Drizzo wrote:You picked Nova for a map, where it will take even a dregh enhanced con 6+ minutes to be put in a place to be of any threat to you. More then enough time to ensure that it doesn't go any further. That's drastically different from another map like InsideOut where there is practically nothing stopping IC from putting a con in your home. Don't use the "it was a 16 sector map!" for an excuse.
None of those factions would be able to keep up with you after the 20 minute mark. None. When every minute you pull in 6-10k and then add minerloads on top of that, the other factions simply can not tech up as fast as giga can.
Of course under those circumstances it's more then viable to rush specs, you manipulated the variables so that it couldn't be anything but. Coupling that with going up against a commander who's still learning and I'm honestly $#@!ing amazed that you could have the balls to brag about that.
If you have to stack the settings to make something work, then I'm afraid you still know nothing about commanding.
And, if you look at Nova, you will see that if you push adjacent to the home, you are cutting off the enemies access to low or high entirely without having to take a long path through the center.
All of this debate is pretty much pointless, because you are "set" that it was just so stacked. Instead we should put down words, and take up our comm sticks, and I will show you how wrong you are.
Drizzo. You Versus Me. Same Settings, Same Map.
You go Giga Spec Rush, I go Rixian Unity.
Lets do it.

I love these dudes, this what Allegiance lacks these days! It's refreshing to have two decent commanders embroiled in a grudge match. Nak and Shen would never back down, I have a feeling that MW and Drizz are equally determined. Let the games commence.
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, will make violent revolution inevitable. John F. Kennedy.
The com that went against you either had balls of steel or he's an idiot. Regardless, I joined his team just to help defray your theory that specmine rush is viable. However, Drizzo's right in saying those settings were stacked in your favor.
MW, you're catering your reasoning to the level of squad game talent, which we all know is a very rare, if ever existent, in PUGs. Spamming specmines in a PUG only takes the skill of one commander who can click the buttons and build them on their respective rocks. As for cutting off expanding by pushing a con to one of the adjacent sectors, that does NOT necessarily stop expanding of any kind.
With the intent of specmine rush, you can get a homerip with a specmine, so why not build the opening tele out in the middle of the map where you can rip all your cons? There you go, you can still expand and spam specrefs. In a squad game, the squad would easily form up dis2 runs via carriers and pushed bases to take out your econ in a matter of seconds. I recall soloing one of Sysx's specrefs before, so I'm very sure that a well-organized squad can take out any sysx specref rush strat that's thrown out.
Now you're going to try and make yourself look smarter by challenging Drizzo as Rix, and he's supposed to rush specmines. It's obvious that with a smart team, rix can stop a specref rush. SR scouts out, rip figs in to stop cons or dis2 refs, rix upgrades a sup and garrison to make it easy to rip adv figs around to kill any leftovers. Try doing that with a team of idiots in a PUG, and watch how the specref rush will so easily best you. Try that in a squad game against another squad stupid enough to try specref rush, and watch Giga get its ass kicked.
Anyway, the game against the guy who commed belts was pretty good despite the failure to kill all specmines early on. The biggest mistake that comm made was not going rix or giga himself. Basically, the only way you'll beat Drizzo the way you intend to is if you have a team smart enough to know how to use SRs properly, or the giga team can't defend miners or kill miners due to incompetence.
Try analyzing your command wins more carefully, and don't brag about winning unless your awesome specref spam works in a squad game against a truly strong squad like PK or ACE, and so on. That is all, good luck in your game against Drizzo.

Im just going to keep owning all you dissenters with the strats that *dont work*.
All the better for those of us that can (Are willing to think) use them.
I would also like to point out the irony in this thread, it started out about people unwilling to accept to others statements on what is the acceptable truth, and it ends with the truth bearers unwilling to accept the unwilling persons actual truth.
You really dont know how funny that irony is to me.
@ Jazel: Your analysis of the proper spec mine rush is incorrect, and as such your counter-strategy is incorrect. Command a few more times, and learn how things work, or maybe watch me when I spec rush if you want to learn the proper spec mine rush technique.

Oh lord please don't stop owning me on Aces Squared with your giga spec mine rush. I will never forget how you defeated my lowly Dreg garr tech with that strategy. Oi...wait a second...you got bbq'ed!Malicious Wraith wrote:QUOTE (Malicious Wraith @ Jul 30 2008, 01:01 AM) Im just going to keep owning all you dissenters with the strats that *dont work*.

Remember your idiocy about you didn't need miners? And I tried to explain to you how you were wrong using a basic cost/benefit analysis? And you kept telling me I was incorrect?
If you want to learn a proper spec ref rush technique I encourage you to not follow Malice "I don't need no miners because this spec ref will pay for itself because I can't do basic math and think 1 spec ref is awesome" Of God
"."
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday
