Fingerbang i wanted to reply you, but if i posted what i wanted to, i'd probably get banned, so i'll abstain myself.
It's difficult though.
Bad rating for you, fella.
Hostility towards noobs

...
Finger's right. You want to get smart fast? Get TS. Why? Becuase you actually might LEARN something. It's how I learned. I go TS before I did Cadet, and in the week leading up to it, I'd learned things they didn't teach in Cadet. TS allows you ask questions faster and get mroe complete answers. Try it, even if your first language isn't english.

the funny thing is, I know EXACTLY who fingerbang is talking about, becuase I've remarked on the same thing, I would rather take the newbie on TS, then some VOOB that isn't because i I know that at least the newbie is going to be able to talk to me. If you really want to get places in this game fast: GET TEAMSPEAK AND A MIC.
As long as you dont act like an idiot, and start squeking along to greenday, i dont think we'll have a problem. In fact, I'll be more then glad to help you out and answer your questions.
Simply put:
GET ON TEAMSPEAK AND ASK QUESTIONS

Guit, yours is an advice and it's greatly welcomed, Finger's is not.
That's the difference, attitude.
Simply that.
I accept advices, i don't accept diktats from... i'll drop it.
Everyone has the IQ to understand that the comm has no time for typing in-game.
One can also make notes and ask on the forums later, instead of using TS.
It's freedom of choice.
One can decide also to play without @cadet, without teamspeak, without his brain and drunk.
If he breaks the ROC and/or the TOC he can be banned/booted etc.
If not, such a player CAN play anyways.
I would like someone to appreciate the fact that very few noobs, having the possibility to do what i told before, actually do so.
Instead I got someone bashing us for not doing something ELSE (TS), that is NOT explicitly requested. Only suggested.
Does it seem encouraging for a noob, in your POW?
Over and out, i'm not saying anything else about this.

Your not hearing us are you?
We don't want you to suck! We want you to have the best time possible, and that means learning a little bit.
I get on TS drunk lots of times. Hell I command drunk at times too. But guess what? My team has fun when I do that. Why? Because I still know what I'm doing because I learned when I was asked to. Get on TS and ask questions. Why? It will help you LEARN.
"But GooeyFish! I don't want to learn! I want to play at me own pace!"
Well thats fine. In fact thats great. But you can play at your own pace while on TS too. You don't even need a mic, just sit on TS and listen.
"But GooeyFish, I don't want to get it"
Your going to pass up something that lets you get to the fight faster? Shame on you. The number of time I've heard on Ts that someone was going after someone and launched just to catch a piece of the action is insane. More information = more killing faster.
Better Whorage Through Faster Communication.
But don't listen to me eh? Why should you? I've only been here a little more then a year, and I'm comparable to a nice slice of vets. Why? I used TS ALL the TIME! So yeah....

The thread is fine. My 2 cents... eww a dime! I've never witnessed active noobie hating to the exclusion of all other players. Not once! Anyone that I've seen hating noobies, I've seen hating in mass quantities for everyone. Yes, it's a problem when it involves new players, but it's regulated and controllable.

If you want to progress anywhere's in this community(or any community around a game with a steep learning curve) it would be advisable to learn how to seive(sp) through negatively presented critisizm and take away good suggestions. Not everyone is able to candy coat things for your betterment, doesn't mean you can't learn from them.

I normally try to keep out of anti-anti-newbie threads but since i'm here and FlingPu held the door...
In all three times I passed through noobdom(2 actual, 1 effective) I never experienced any unreasonable hostility.
Throughout my time here I have been booted... once. I was booted because I failed to pick up the slack for a newbie when we were stacked against. I get why I was booted... It was a very stressfully game for the com and he couldn't boot our newbie.
In conclusion(have to be formal don't I)
It is reasonable to expect novices to not passively hurt the team.
It is also reasonable to assume that a new newbie cannot meet the above standard until proven otherwise.
I don't actually have a point.
