I think M$ won't do anything unless clear arguments are given to convince an overworked stressed M$ manager, which might lose his job at any given moment, that it's in his interest to spend time on the "FA" case.

The danger isn't to us, or the community. We have no money. The danger is to Steam. They have money and lots of it. Sue-able money. So, they will not touch this with a ten foot goat.

However!

I just bought Age of Empires II on Steam (!) with forgotten empires expansion (!!), which as far as I know is a fan based mod. So, however the forgotten empires guys pulled that one off, we should follow the same path. Anyone here know anyone over at FE?

Well....
QUOTE Hey Weylin,

It's a very long story, but essentially, "the stars aligned". We were working on a (very popular) mod, while Microsoft was working on the HD edition. We figured we could combine our efforts and that's essentially how we got on Steam. I think your best bet would be to let a representative get in touch with Microsoft, probably through their contact page (https://support.microsoft.com/contactus?ws=support) as they don't have a team for Allegiance at the moment.

Best of luck!
Cheers,
Bert[/quote]
Anybody know how to induce star alignments?

Thanks Weylin

I think the thing that helped.get the stars aligned wad MS active participation in a flavor of the project. I'm rereading my last posts and think I need an attitude adjustment here and in RL so I'm going to be really nice

Again can we please, pretty please with free gropes of Duck/Back and Noirsol on top stop insulting the very people we are trying to reach out to with the misuse of the acrynom for them.

You know i am french and i am a bad lawyer in english. I didnt read all what MS said for use their license.

But why couldn't we put the allegiance launcher on steam greenlight. If we change logo and purge the launcher with any allegiance copyright, it couldn't be conflict between steam and MS.

But we couldnt promote allegiance in steam, only the launcher

Hi Weylin,

Would you mind reaching back out to the kind chap you were talking to, and see if he would be an exceptionally kind chap and give us the contact details for someone on the Microsoft AOE II HD team? If MS has a department of old game re-development, that's who I'd like to talk with, even if they are not related to Allegiance (yet).

Thank you sir!

Sorry, I haven't been able to get a hold of them again
He said to contact Microsoft support, but their contact page is completely useless for this kind of a request, I don't know what channel to go through.

I need a summary of Steam's position on Allegiance.

Who can link me to either posted results or connect me with whoever was talking to Steam directly?

I need to understand exactly what the problem(s) are/were that has prevented Allegiance on Steam in the past. Where can I get this information?

Hi TE,

Have a read through this thread, it may shed some light on the subject for you.
On page 4 you will see where Cashto had contacted Microsoft and their discussions are posted which includes comments about Steam.

I hope this helps.

Paps, that gives a little bit of back-story but it doesn't give me what I need.

I need clarity on Valve's responses were to Allegiance being hosted there. I imagine at some point someone in this community emailed Valve or otherwise submitted an application to place Allegiance on steam.
Who in our community made this application? (if anyone)What was Valve's response to this application?

Both this topic and the one you linked has a lot of armchair legal opinions on the current MS shared source license, the legal status of FAO, and many other opinions from the Microsoft or FAO sides.

I need to be brought up-to-date on what the Valve side of this equation is.

Who can point me towards that goal?
