This thread confuses me, as it seems to assume that anything at all about the tech tree is taught in Cadet - the only reason I know that minis are researched by exp are because they're in the int's default loadout and not in the fig's, and I certainly don't know which levels of mini are researched by regular exp and which ones are research by adv exp, let alone the details of how tech stealing works. Or is that something that's only in Cadet II? Man, I can't wait for the next session of Cadet II three months from now to teach me all this basic, essential knowledge of the game that you guys seem to think everybody should know!
You'll learn it in cadet 2. Well, I mean,
you won't because you already know it, but I promise you that cadet2 gets more into the tech tree and how it works. In fact, there's definitely a major part about which tech you get to keep in what circumstances!
(hint: you get to use any part you have the techbase for and have researched/captured, and you always get the benefits of GAs you have researched. The only exception to this is Belters, which can use guns that they do NOT have the techbase for)
QUOTE It's not like I blame Bass for being confused, as it took me a couple of minutes to figure out exactly what was wrong and what was right just from that chatlog, let alone what people were laughing at him for.[/quote]
Ok, look, here's why people are laughing at him.
Imagine you just got here, and you're like, "How come I can't mount minigun on my fighters?" Someone chuckles and corrects you, saying that miniguns are for interceptors not fighters. Now you start calling them a retard, saying that "no, in fact, miniguns go on fighters." At this point they're just going to make fun of you because a) you're wrong and b) you're being obstinate about it. It's not that this is "basic" information, it's more that it's information that's readily available, and that they tried to give to him, but he refused to have it.
Imagine if some cadet was reading in the cadet forums, and then posted a big, long post to the effect of "Actually, Scouts have terrible range, and you should never probe!" And then continued arguing his point.
