Sorry, too late. It was too late in 1995, although it took me another twelve years to give up.
I do still introduce myself as a Perl hacker, but only to people who will understand what I mean.
I fully understand the definition hacker (and so do these people whom I belong to) but I use the term "hacker" in the general sense of the gaming community as one who intentionally tries to cheat or exploit a game.

This is also why we have ASGS, and why we have @Allegs with bansticks... it's not so we can play President/God/whatever like the vocal minority alleges, it's so we can deal with the few who work to ruin the fun for the many. Everything we do is so the community can enjoy its favorite game.

QFT, commendable job guys.
Although giving people doggy treats for reporting stuff seems somehow.. wrong. People should report for the sake of the game, not for their own benefit.

Please, don't let ESR hijack the term 'hacker'. It's an epithet, not an honorific appellation.

I totally agree, but from what we found in chatlogs some players noticed it but none reported it. I guess they felt the "sake of the game" wasn't worth it?

The Allegiance community currently hates their sysadmin because he is doing: [Too Much] [____________|] [Too Little]

You see a few newbies from time to time who get pissed off and say that they are going to hack the system. What happens? Absolutly nothing, I think the greater majority are just spouting hot air. Now if one actually proved that they were hacking and people ignored it, that would be another thing.

These people should then be outed and promptly stoned.
Also, women should wear scarves on their heads. SHARIA LAW!
