Difference between Good Comms and Great Comms
That's right, only skilled commanders should attempt leaving base to do something other than that /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />NakPPI wrote:QUOTE (NakPPI @ Oct 13 2007, 02:10 PM) lol. DrS actually was a firm proponent of NOT commanding from the cockpit, as am I. I generally only leave base to defend miners, cons or bases. If I need to fly regularly, that usually means my team is $#@!ing retarded.
Really, no commander should be leaving base. I'm sure greyslayer's skill in an int was just so prodigious that it made it worth it for him, but I need myself to be that guaranteed miner nan, and to call drops, and to call for probes, even if i was capable of instantly memorizing every rock number that I could ever possibly want to use.
I love commanding from the front lines. For some people, having the commander lead the miner offensive, or having the commander blow up your op on a galv run is just a huge morale knock, because it's sending the message "Hey everything is running so well on the other team that their commander can get out of base and kill things while ours stays in base and yells at us for not defending even though we saw it coming!"
9 times out of 10 I'm usually with our opening con, sitting miners, taking 6 people with me to kill their miners, or, god forbid, probing, instead of sitting in base and waiting for something to get killed. Besides, I need to keep my kill/eject ratio up /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

hahaha, as i said, i saw him commanding from the cockpit, but it didn't look like he was used to do it: it was more like he didn't need to stay in base because the game was retarded /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />NakPPI wrote:QUOTE (NakPPI @ Oct 13 2007, 11:10 AM) lol. Classifiable up to Trolleomorphism.
Which is one of the most retarded places for a commander to be... You can't control your miners or cons and if your bomber run fails you run the risk of a nice long ride back to base, while your con AI decides the shortest way to build in the enemy back sector is through the enemy home.Narg wrote:QUOTE (Narg @ Oct 14 2007, 08:47 AM) And Aarm is always the bbr pilot.
