I like the big orange sig, except Firefox 2 is buggy on my machine...keeps asking me to validate some agreement that doesn't work and then starts working fine.../glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" />

Just an anecdote i want to share with you all:
I bought Allegiance as soon as it hit the stores, however i couldnt play it because of my ISPs firewall/proxy settings.
It was a very very small local ISP called Cubic Circle, to get access you had to actually go to their "office" ( = rambly shack with lots of routers and networking equipment ).
As soon as i found the MS Tech support article on the cause of the problem, i called my ISP at around midnight, not expecting anyone to pick up the phone.
But i was lucky, one of their network nerds was still knitting cables and polishing bits so i explained my problem to him. At first he was in disbelief when i tried to get him to open the ports on the firewall. Then he said "Alright, try to connect, i'll see whats going on". I launched Alleg and listened to him mumbling things like "hmm. strange port, wtf.." etc.
Then, all of the sudden: "Alright, ill clear the ports. Try again in five minutes." He hung up.
5 Minutes later i lauched Alleg, and voilá! It worked.
That incident is what kept me with this Provider for a long time, even when the big ones would give you access for half the price. /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":iluv:" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />

Thats a nice story ToXiC /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Good to have providers who actually give service.
I found Allegiance's open beta on some magazine CD. Played a while. Got pwned. The works. I bought it from Dubai when a relative of mine went there a couple of months after retail hit for around USD200 equivalent. Been here on and off ever since!

I was really bored one day and starting looking online to see if I could download an old game that I used to love to play, maybe one of you has heard of it; Fatal, which was a rather old but awesome car racing game. Anyway, one of the places that said I could download it was at Home of the Underdogs. When I found out how sweet that site was, I started looking around at other games and checked out simulators and found this game called Allegiance, which had a really high rating and a very positive review and sounded like a game I'd always been looking for, since I love space combat, big battles, and strategy. So I downloaded it and here I am /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" /> A noob, but a happy noob nonetheless.

I was in the beta; Allegiance was the first online game I played, with Asheron's Call beta shortly after that.
I lost touch when Alleg went gold; bought a house, new job, lost job, Internet bubble, blah blah... I frequently hunted around online for a copy of Allegiance and watched the price drop, nearly purchasing it several times, but didn't have the monthly funds available for a Zone subscription.
After a couple years of ignoring this feeling that Allegiance was one of the most under-appreciated games ever, I Googled it... and the rest is history.
