this to me implies that upon starting playing Allegiance for a few minutes you have a high gaming skill when compared with the other games and this peaks very quickly, while steep learning curve implies the game is difficult to learn, swap around gaming skill and time axis and then it implies that only once you have spent lots of time will you have high gaming skill (thus steep learning curve). This also makes sense with the graph as you have the cliff of voobdom near the top where people think they are vets and thus become more useless.

I am new to the game as well, played my first game today and........ you guys weren't kidding about that learning curve. I came in gun-ho and went out tail between the legs with all of 4 points for the hour I was playing. I am good at X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter and such, but alot more is going on in this game. I plan on signing up for this Cadet training course. So if some one could point me in the right direction.

Welcome to the game, Talonwisp :) . Please enjoy your stay. We have free spritzers and coolers waiting in the lounge.

It's nice to see people actively trying to learn this game [and the community]. It makes me my heart feel all fuzzy.

Been around for the last week. Stumbled across this game while trawling the internet. I don't know why but I like digging up and playing older games, especially when they are as good as this one. Signed up for Cadet and until then just plan on playing and learning (already read through the material though).

I still stink when it comes to dogfighting so I'm just sticking to my nanite gun.

Edit: Damnit I just realized I typod my forum name. Supposed to be C0rrosion

Saw you just lost your newbie number corrosion! Congrats!
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.

talonwisp, the tie fighter games are based on forward momentum and reducing thrust to get behind an enemy for the kill.

the main thing to remember is allegiance factors in momentum for everything in every direction, your ship's and the enemy ships. the combat would be much more akin to the battles seen in battlestar galactica (although we do also have both a star wars and a battlestar galactica core)

Yeah I noticed that on my first game, when I was shooting at someone, then a spilt second later he was already firing back at me lol.
