/preamble
I was at my friend's house today. He's trying to get me to play WoW (again) with him. I'm trying to get him to play Alleg with me.
He starts up WoW, to show me his char and such. The login screen music comes up, which is all epic and gets me pumped up to play, and even the little background video is epic as hell. He logs in and shows me his char, showing me all his cool gears and @#(!.
I was convinced to play (again) when I heard the login music.
I install Alleg on his comp, make him an account, log him in. No intro video/music, nothing eye-catching or entertaining. We sit in the lobby for awhile while the teams juggle commanders in between games. I try to explain what's going on and why he shouldn't lose interest. He sits on a team for awhile before the game launches. Game finally launches, my friend flies out in a scout, while I explain to him how to find alephs. He gets 3 sectors away from home, gets podded by fwiffo, then floats home for like 6 minutes, then logs out.
Fortunately my friend ALWAYS eventually ends up getting addicted to the same games I am.
/end preamble
I dunno how I'm going to convince him it's not boring as hell.
It's thoroughly entertaining to me because I'm wrapped up in the politics and drama.
but really....god this game looks boring.
and no offense to all the people who volunteer their time and money to keep this game going, but honestly
LESS INFORMATION, MORE PRESENTATION
The more work you all put into this , the more overwhelming+boring it looks to anyone who isn't already into the game.
Also I'm wondering how come we use Teamspeak instead of Ventrilo.
Every game I've played has used Ventrilo, except Allegiance and Runescape.
I think new players would be alot more inclined to "jump on vent" with us than to download and run some teamspeaky thing that nobody uses except 12 year olds for free mmorpgs. and god knows we don't need any more of those in the community.
