Jimen wrote:QUOTE (Jimen @ Dec 5 2009, 05:41 PM) It's just a simple question of more people leaving than joining. The "joining" part is simple; this game doesn't get a whole lot of exposure, and both the community and the learning curve are unfriendly to newbies by nature. The marketing efforts and AFS should fix this to a reasonable extent. The "leaving" part is also very simple; occasionally someone gets banned, but more often people just don't have the time to play anymore, and thus rarely appear on the leaderboard even if they're here in spirit.
no it's not that simple and while I appreciate your opinion this isn't really the case Jimen. You a "newer" player who always write well, and speak intellegently but in this case your just not correct.

Last newbie game I played was before I joined AFS and it became forbidden...
It was total noobitude. I would rather be podded in a main game than be the king of shooting things up in a newbie game. It just gets boring. And everyone had the best tech and was doing retarded things. Yes, let's have 10 miners mine the same sector with refineries 1000000 miles away. That'll make the money come in fast. Yes, let's place a TP in a retarded spot. I didn't know that all these things were like they were until I actually commanded one and thought, hmm... I realized that the He asteroids had health, that it's best to place your TP in a spot close to your green door (if the intention is to make it a quick base thing), the stuff.

Our opinions on this subject seem to differ.
when was the last time you saw an int boosting 2 sectors and killing something
either way, ints require the most of all 3 categories. however i suppose i should have defined the word "skill" in the sense that i was using it. Mainly ability to aim and/while maneuvering

Last time I flew on a team with exp, which was admittedly a while ago, but I haven't been flying much lately. When you make you claim that ints are harder to use, you completely ignore that fact that ints are so much deadlier than figs or sfs, and that you should have something else to eye your target.. Also, skill in the game context includes situational awareness, as anyone without it is useless, no matter how well they aim.

QUOTE Maybe if you had a first timer thingie where it said "Go here for help" (I don't remember seeing one) then it'd help people see that they're not gonna be the bee's knees for a good while.[/quote]
Well, the main page has a button that says "Learn to Play" directly below the button that says "Download Allegiance," and the community home page has both "Getting Started" and "Learning Guide" in the site navigation list. What would you suggest as an improvement?

I'm pretty sure we have been over this whole miner killing int vs something else discussion before. In fact, I vividly remember making this same explanation: Ints own nans. In fact, ints own just about every form of d they can put on that miner except capships. With 4 ints, it no longer matters that they don't kill the miners as fast. The nans have no way of reacting, so the miner dies.
