No, this was the first time I had tried getting R4 to work. The mods I use are (off the top of my head):
Weedman's pointers, TheBored's Crosshairs, FlinfPu's missile lock, a few soundfiles here and there overwritten, my old custom VC pack, and maybe something else. Heres the .mdls (I keep them in a seperate folder for exactly this sort of situation):

centerinbmp, centeroutbmp, dialog, exp24, exp25, iconpubmp, inputmap1, lockedbmp, plockbmp, pointer, quickchat, sounddef, targetedbmp

+++ Edit. Well, it was my quickchat.mdl file. I really should've figured that'd be the culprit. I don't even know why I was hanging on to it, no one uses it.

Right. That does make sense. I probably should have anticipated that problem. Shoot. Sucks for us devs. So hard to develop with important files we change breaking clients because of mods.

Mods or not sounddef.mdl WILL be changed for R4. Those of you making all these new VC packs and those using them need to be aware that R4 will crash on your quickchat.mdl. If you want to continue using them you'll need to re-add the necessary lines to the new sounddef.mdl when it is released.

For the beta, I would recommend putting a normal quickchat.mdl file in the dev folder to avoid this problem for now.

I do fully expect R5 to have much better support for Quick Chat mods.

Juckto, do not give up on your voice chat pack. Can you e-mail me the files ( AEM@AllegTraining.com ) so I can look into adding them?

Pinned this topic.

I'll either merge it or do some clean up on the other threads if I get some extra free time. But for now this is what we've got.

See the first post in this thread for the install instructions.

If i may suggest a little improvement:

Can we have a wiki for this beta, reading posts and digging forums is clearly very wrong... I can host it for as long as needed, just drop me a PM....

A wiki? The layout would be terrible for what we are trying to accomplish. With a forum, we can sticky the important topics to keep them in plain sight while letting popular discussions continue to get bumped to the top of the list. If you are saying that we need reference material, you obviously haven't read this post. It covers every relevant part of R4.

What mods do you have installed? At least two or three seem to have this problem so far. Very likely a mod issue.

I ran the setup as told, and the Beta files will not launch. It crashes.

Gotta be more specific...

If you followed the directions, the only good reason for the beta to crash is incompatibility with mods you installed for R3. What mods are you using?
