BlackViper wrote:QUOTE (BlackViper @ Jan 30 2007, 01:41 PM) Yes Lyk, your point taken. Basics of Alleg are easy, it is the mastery that is hard.

The issue is they have to take the time to WANT to learn. That was my only point.

The issue is that some of our current vets don't understand that when learning you make mistakes. These are vets that have zero tolerance for anything but absolute mastery and perfection... which frankly means they're never happy.

I've played one game, ever, of Halo 2 online. I joined the game, heard some 12 year old making some remark about another 12 year old's mother. That 12 year old then proceeded to curse the first 12 year old's mother and I believe their family dog.

I logged off.

Would you want to devote time to learn a game which you can't enjoy because of rampant idiocy?

Remember kids, "Asshat" is not a badge of honor. When you insult and demean people and they complain - THEY are not the ones with the problem.

Demeaning nuubs is an honor, priviledge, and sacred duty of all who call themselves veteran players.

Ok... let me sum this up..

Let the newbs play. Accept them to your team unless you have waaaay more than the other side. Having 1+ newb WILL NOT KILL YOU. You were a newb too, and it you were treated like crap, dont take it out on those that are here now.

If you dont like it, well, Life is a bitch.

Sorry ot be the party pooper here, but this is like the gazillionth thread and nothing has happened. Making a gazillion and one threads wont change anything. Sure you can rant and rave, but getting the asshats in this community to change is like pissing into the wind.

ok due to the problems a risen from making newbs go to a newb server and get help from vets who are willing to help, isnt going to happen i discussed with iron ways around it, yes i do understand that the newb server wont be populated thats not the point. the point is to teach our newbies how to play.

Like i said in my previous post iam going to take thenext 6 months to a year to pull out newbs off our vet server and give them a chance to learn in a non fast non agressive atmosphere so they can get a feel for alleg b4 getting wiped out by vets. For the new guys who dont want to learn they wont come and no ones gonna force them,,, when they come play with me they will be shown and taught how to play , while askng any question they want, without shame for being called a stupid newb!

Iam asking all vets to respect that game when it happens and not to come in and start whoreing these guys, i will have u booted i have allready talked to iron and he sees no problem with that in fact he suggested it.

so to all the vets who want to see some equality in our newbies come on down and give me a hand,,,

as for treating newbs badly u do as u must, and take your chance with the ban stick!

why you ask is he gonna do this? well for 7 years i have done nothing for the alleg community really other then teach a few people, and this is a way for me to give back to the game .While others give there time and money ,,, i shall give u the super NUB! f33r my newbies cause im gonna teach em all the tricks!`gu

Some people were involved in newbie training today and for the most part all the vets were nice and helpful.
Thank you to all who participated.

for combat training i found it was good to take one off to a sector on your own, it stopped other people randomly attacking your newbie while your explaining something to them / getting them to do something. or attacking you for that matter.

in the normal sector i found we had to keep waiting for a time when we werent being interupted.

though i was kinda annoyed they didn't send a carrier to my sector when i asked.
they said they had no money as giga on plenti, me as dreg had 200000000, so i got cash box and gave them 600000, i still didn't get my carrier :( (i wanted to give my newbie a lead indicator)

other things, turning imbal = N/A is good.
defactions on is good
i should have turned ff on, so i can shoot people who attack my newbie.
reveal map off was good for scout training, but it may have lasted a little too long, they were getting bored. needed to discuss scouting and probing more before launching, explain what they need to do before starting, then it gets it over quicker.

IO + out9/2.5 worked well. (so did dreg with double figure he mines)

it lets you focus on the teaching.

i wonder if i could teach many at once.. could be hard to solve individual problems.
my newbie wsa having trouble aiming using a joystick, i don't know much about joysticks, so i told him to use mouse + keyboard and he improved. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
