Bumping it because I can!

I am still not sure that I have seen all the concepts.

edit: Ok I have now seen 6 separate concepts now! I am liking what I am seeing here and I hope that this has not gone by the wayside.

Tigereye wrote:QUOTE (Tigereye @ Jan 6 2010, 03:43 PM) Okay it's been a week since the last post in this thread. I'm magically calling a cutoff date of now.

Bacon, AEM, and whoever else has a frontpage ready (ie: HTMLized, not just a picture of a concept) please have it hosted somewhere and PM me a link.
An ASGS poll will go up THIS WEEKEND which will include these completed concepts.

To the authors of these concepts, I have to give you the biggest kudos ever.
Not only have you taken your OWN time to develop these, but you've taken SO MUCH @#(! from the community along with it. I'm honestly shocked you guys lasted as long as you did without going ape@#(! on the community.
Allegiancefolk can be so so cruel D:

You guys have nerves of steel and skin as thick as a Tiger penis.
If I ever get in a shouting match, I want you few on my side because I know you have the uncanny ability to let other people's crap roll off your backs without touching your cores.

Looking forward to the PMs,

Total necropost, I admit it.

It's been 2 weeks x2

We still have new people in helpline right now asking what kind of game this is, and no doubt many more browsing by and not bothering to sign up on the forum so they can see the very secret posts inside about what type of game this is.

If any one of the new frontpages went up, this problem would be eliminated.

Bacon's: http://tehbacon.host56.com/Allegiance/Baco...leg%20Page.html

Hell, just get one of em up temporarily even.

We've been using the old one for years, so a few weeks is not going to kill us.

my eldest son came down with flu (39+C temp) my youngest has a really bad throat / chesty cough. I went to Manchester last week which took two days and I still have to spend time with the wife you know.

There is a design that is nearing completion but my spare time is very limited atm and it'll be worth it come the end. If it isn't you can blame me and hate me whatever you feel like.

it would be helpful is the page were updated right now. the marketing push and the penny arcade post are bringing in lots of new guys right at this moment:(.

Take a look at the monthly graph and the rather visible increase during our typically "low" times:

One night worth of work will get it done tbh, so If I'm lucky and the kids feel good enough to sleep tonight, I might have time to finish after the squad game.

Edit: I ask for this last week, If I still fail to get it done due to personal circumstances, let the vote continue without our awesome site (which surprisingly is little like bacons original.)

Can we get bacon's page but with AEM's videos up? That would be the best I think. (the allegiance promo video is exactly what we want on the front page)

minor changes:
remove the scout flying on the end of the promo video.

Remove the black background on the faction logos on bacon page

I'm guessing it's too late to review but i've got time to kill.

Comparing the two:
Because AEM's lacks information and Bacon's lacks eyecatchiness.
Both will lose players right from the start.

When I look at free games, before I even get NEAR the download button I look at 3 things:
-Gameplay (Shown in the video. We have this)
-Game information. (What's this game going to be like? What things are in the game that I may enjoy? Information shown at the bottom of Bacon's page. Right now I wanna pilot an sf and rape everything uneyed, and prox the @#(! out of everything in a scout while ruining their plans for an uneyed push/bomb)
-Details. (What's this game about? Just people killing each other in space? If that's the case i'm closing the window and spending the time I COULD be using to play this game looking up pr0n)

If I were to pick from the two i'd pick AEM's because i'd go for the game with the good-looking homepage, not the informative one.
Homepages that get your attention convince people to delve deeper and see if they want to play this game or not. But if they find nothing about the game, they won't play.

Is it too late to make final final revisions with you two putting the homepages together to make something catchy AND informative?

Bacon's:
-Backstory. Top of the homepage! Earth has BEEN DESTROYED! Right in your face! You wonder: What's happened now? I should read into this!
-The buttons are dull but I like the pattern. Need brightening.
-Background gives me a raging boner!
-The info! I said it earlier that It makes me want to play even more.
-The buttons/tabs on the game info make the page more accessible. AEM's lacks this.

AEM's:
-The quotes make me think this is worth playing. It's not some back of the internet dust-covered game no one has set eyes on in ages. People PLAY THIS AND PEOPLE STILL COME HERE!
-The videos are great examples of what's to come when they play this game. They say "Oh @#(!! I'm wanna do that!", this gets the people's attention and some download right away.
-No info, People don't know enough to want to download it. I see walls of text that aren't worth reading and useless screenshots. I don't want to play the game that's on the second half of the page.
-The buttons on top. BAM! RIGHT THERE! Don't bother scrolling down bitch because all you need is up here! I would enjoy bacon's more so long as they're brighter. That gets more attention.

Save people from having to scroll down too much. Instead of scrolling down for game info, put a link on the side or something. The info on bacon's page is sitting there in a dark corner. I'm urged to scroll back up. If I had just entered this page, I wouldn't bother reading that.

On a side note to AEM's page, you can add a Penny Arcade quote to the list on your homepage:
QUOTE Think ye on a multiplatform Allegiance, and wonder why we have not returned to that fertile soil. - Tycho. Penny Arcade[/quote]
