I'm guessing it's too late to review but i've got time to kill.
Comparing the two:
Because AEM's lacks information and Bacon's lacks eyecatchiness.
Both will lose players right from the start.
When I look at free games, before I even get NEAR the download button I look at 3 things:
-Gameplay (Shown in the video. We have this)
-Game information. (What's this game going to be like? What things are in the game that I may enjoy? Information shown at the bottom of Bacon's page. Right now I wanna pilot an sf and rape everything uneyed, and prox the @#(! out of everything in a scout while ruining their plans for an uneyed push/bomb)
-Details. (What's this game about? Just people killing each other in space? If that's the case i'm closing the window and spending the time I COULD be using to play this game looking up pr0n)
If I were to pick from the two i'd pick AEM's because i'd go for the game with the good-looking homepage, not the informative one.
Homepages that get your attention convince people to delve deeper and see if they want to play this game or not. But if they find nothing about the game, they won't play.
Is it too late to make final final revisions with you two putting the homepages together to make something catchy AND informative?
Bacon's:
-Backstory. Top of the homepage! Earth has BEEN DESTROYED! Right in your face! You wonder: What's happened now? I should read into this!
-The buttons are dull but I like the pattern. Need brightening.
-Background gives me a raging boner!
-The info! I said it earlier that It makes me want to play even more.
-The buttons/tabs on the game info make the page more accessible. AEM's lacks this.
AEM's:
-The quotes make me think this is worth playing. It's not some back of the internet dust-covered game no one has set eyes on in ages. People PLAY THIS AND PEOPLE STILL COME HERE!
-The videos are great examples of what's to come when they play this game. They say "Oh @#(!! I'm wanna do that!", this gets the people's attention and some download right away.
-No info, People don't know enough to want to download it. I see walls of text that aren't worth reading and useless screenshots. I don't want to play the game that's on the second half of the page.
-The buttons on top. BAM! RIGHT THERE! Don't bother scrolling down bitch because all you need is up here! I would enjoy bacon's more so long as they're brighter. That gets more attention.
Save people from having to scroll down too much. Instead of scrolling down for game info, put a link on the side or something. The info on bacon's page is sitting there in a dark corner. I'm urged to scroll back up. If I had just entered this page, I wouldn't bother reading that.
On a side note to AEM's page, you can add a Penny Arcade quote to the list on your homepage:
QUOTE Think ye on a multiplatform Allegiance, and wonder why we have not returned to that fertile soil. - Tycho. Penny Arcade[/quote]
