Most anyone who would know anything about Allegiance and would have any power is no longer there. Probably only Rick Rashid himself would be able to do anything for us. He would be very difficult to even get in touch with since he is so high up at Microsoft and who knows what his feelings are towards Allegiance now. Regardless, even if we were to somehow get more control over Allegiance, I highly doubt Steam would consider adding Allegiance. They don't care about old games that are not very popular and won't make them any money. Could possibly try Good Old Games or other services. I believe Allegiance would have a better shot at getting on them if it was not free though.

Yep, getting results from contacting M$ is like pulling perfectly good teeth. :o

We obviously need Allegiance 2 :P
Primarily something that has no legal ties with M$ and which has a fresh new look, and has a focus on easing new players into the experience, so a lot of tooltips and HUD labels to explain everything.

Alternatively we could go on the Natural Selection 2 forums and say "Hey guys, come try out this really cool game, its basically NS2... in space! :D :D :D "

Hey weylin - your friends might like Allegiance videos like this one a bit more.

MEGA still works with Microsoft and I am in contact with him.
He was on the original dev team, I believe?

Fairly close to what I show em... they just see boring and unimaginative pellet guns and slow moving ships.
Not saying we need ultra high acceleration, high turn torque, and a dozen different shiny varieties of cannons, but this slower paced stuff is apparently a big turn off to younger gamers.

I have no idea what they are on about, I found combat in allegiance to be very exiting, and even though the ships are a bit sluggish it's still very possible to dodge and avoid damage.

Apparently Freelancer is a more appealing game... because it looks better and combat is more easy to find and is more intense? I have no idea.

Another untapped market would be the linux community. Linux users are much more complexity-resilient than windows users, so there is a better chance that they will hook into the game (or even get volunteers to help in further development).
Don't know if Wine is able to run the Alleg in its current stage, or if it would require a full overhaul.

I think there are about five Linux users now so that might double the player base

Anyone actually tried contacting MS/Steam ?

Anyone tried pitching the idea somewhere high in Microsoft ?
