Ugh.
If I have to appease the peanut-gallery...
During the last ZL meeting we asked pkk if R6 was ready to go out or not. It wasn't - there were still some bugs left.
Which bugs, we asked?
Only one was listed. The multi-monitor bug (issue #225)
We confirmed: so there's only one bug left to fix before R6 is ready?
Seems like it, yes.
As has happened for the last year, calls have been made for people to fix the outstanding bugs and get R6 released.
As you all know, few (if any) people have worked on the code at all in a long time. It seemed there was no incentive.
So this bounty was arranged to generate incentive.
Once again, I have to ask the obvious questions: If it was such an EASY fix, and it was such a no-brainer to solve...why wasn't it solved in the first place?
Not to single any one developer out but, Imago: why didn't you fix this last week? Last month? Last year?
The facts speak for themselves. Bugs don't fix themselves.
The MOMENT the bounty was announced there was a sudden interest in resolving the bug - which is PRECISELY what we wanted to happen.
I'll leave you all to your whining and bickering.
I'm just happy that this re-kindled interest has caused some action on the development front bringing R6 that-much-closer to release.
Thanks for all your hard work, Imago,

The Allegiance community currently hates their sysadmin because he is doing: [Too Much] [____________|] [Too Little]
Current reason: Removing the PayPal contribute page. Send Bitcoin instead: 1EccFi98tR5S9BYLuB61sFfxKqqgSKK8Yz. This scale updates regularly.
Here at FAO, permabans are issued for forum posts, and hacker/cheaters get paid.

Sorry but I can't let this go.Tigereye wrote:QUOTE (Tigereye @ May 28 2011, 03:08 AM) Once again, I have to ask the obvious questions: If it was such an EASY fix, and it was such a no-brainer to solve...why wasn't it solved in the first place?
This is where your closed organisation FAIL. You assume that because your discussed it with your fellow ZLs then everyone is aware of what needs to be done and the people will act.
You don't even post any ZL meetings debriefing or report...
I wasn't aware of that multi-mon bug or that it was considered blocking R6 release.
I'm not the only one.
Why ? because I don't read every posts every day.
Because nothing of this importance was highlighted in the sea of spams and preteen posts that flood these forums.
Because even if it was highlighted at some point, if I stop coming here for a month, when I come back everything is already buried deeply. I don't scroll the main page, no one 'sane' does that.
FIX your communication. HIGHLIGHT and PIN what is important. MODERATE more the spam/joke/idiotic posts in IMPORTANT topics. Use other mean of communications for very important stuff (direct mail for instance). Don't assume that people already know and that people will do. They're busy. Be proactive. BE SMART.
Well do what all successful OPEN communities do. It's not rocket science at all.
Hell with this, i don't even know why I'm wasting my time explaining "community management 101" here. You all supposed to know that already.
The facts speak for themselves. Devs can't read your mind.Tigereye wrote:QUOTE (Tigereye @ May 28 2011, 03:08 AM) The facts speak for themselves. Bugs don't fix themselves.

You may agree or not agree with TE, but TE got at least the trolz on their feet too, wondering what they (trolz) would do with their free time if there is no Alleg anymore. Dramatic times ask for dramatic solutions. Whining is futile, action is needed. Results matter.
If Alleg is revived, maybe in the future we might see lol-topics like "do you remember, 2011, with R5?"
Keeping my fingers crossed, hope everyone keeps a calm head.
But darn, it's like running on a sharp edged sword...

These bugs haven't been fixed yet because don't have any developers interested in fixing them up. --Tigereye

the multi-mon issue was never my priority. to this day it's still not marked in trac as an R6 blocking ticket.TE wrote:Imago: why didn't you fix this last week? Last month? Last year?

those would show up as bold red on this list.
please restore access to my SVN account. pkk has just now sent me his first PM here on your system and it wasn't very good/helpful (it seemed like an attack), just like the email he sent me almost a year ago. the one a year ago was probably because of English being the dev leaders 2nd language and me being English speaking only (and not even very good <Insert dumb American joke here>. anyways the PM said something to the extent of my SVN account was disabled on request - i don't recall making any such request, i do however recall moving to another SVN after my continuous integration & deployment system was not adopted by the same people who i mention are on drugs
face the facts.
and you are welcome
edit this: just now
