Can you verify that you can open these two URLs from inside IE?

http://autoupdate.alleg.net/allegiance.cfg
http://autoupdate.alleg.net/autoupdate/mot...ageoftheday.mdl

The contents of allegiance.cfg should appear as below:

Code: Select all

[Allegiance]
PublicLobby=autoupdate.alleg.net
PublicMessageURL=http://autoupdate.alleg.net/autoupdate/motd/messageoftheday.mdl
FilelistSite=http://autoupdate.alleg.net
FilelistDirectory=/autoupdate/game
FileListCRC = 6C1D5475
FilelistSize = 14385

[AllSrvUI]
Site=http://autoupdate.alleg.net
AutoUpdateURL=http://autoupdate.alleg.net/Autoupdate/Game/Standalone/AutoUpdate.exe
AutoUpdateCRC=8CA52A5E
Directory=/Autoupdate/Game
FileListCRC = ABFE9D21
FilelistSize = 2698

; THIS IS A VALID CONFIG FILE

You run Alleg/ASGS as admin?

Can you rename C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Allegiance\allegiance.cfg, and see if a new one is brought down when you relaunch?

If it is, can you post the contents of the new one here?

I don't have an allegiance.cfg file (this is a fresh alleg install...I imagine that gets downloaded when the motd runs?)

That cfg file contains the URL of MOTD...

Copied allegiance.cfg into my /Allegiance folder, still not working.

Any other important config files I should have to get the motd?

Just to clarify your problem TMC, you do not get MOTD AND you cannot get game list, join a game etc.?
Basically, Allegiance doesn't get past the message of the day fetch? is that right?

That's correct. The 'games list' button doesn't light up. I also imagine that I can't connect to the autoupdate server.
