I don't think anybody should cry about this subject more then Blackshadow. As of about a year ago we should have just changed our name.

People just take stuff too seriously I think. Except IB, of course.

Hey, PK's Wiki entry says that you are closed for recruitment. Have you somehow hacked my browser, so that I'm seeing a different message than everybody else.

http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.ph...dor%27s_Knights

Message I see: Currently recruiting: NO

Real message: Hell yes, anyone who can fly straight, or crooked...or not at all, but you think you may try it one day, is welcome, the more the merrier. Oh if you see Duck, tell him that recruitment is closed.

mcwarren4 wrote:QUOTE (mcwarren4 @ Jun 26 2008, 12:08 PM) We have been struggling with this ever since we got big enough to always field a full team. In the end, if we turn down a good pilot because we would prefer to see them stay or go to one of the weaker squads they end up with PK, XT, or SysX... every time.
Intersting you mention us because as far asn I know about 95% of our current squad are comprised of people for whom SysX is their first choice and we sort of train them up to my exacting standards - as opposed to absorbing players from other squads.

Look at that against @XT absorbing a ton of the old SRM's (who could have really helped another squad) or @ACE which seems to be more like 95% of the current squad coming from other squads and is also one of the largest most skilled suqads.

I am just curious what we as a community can do to stop the big squads from being like the Yankees and putting the small squads on a more even footing.
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

It's a cycle, every squad has it's peaks and valleys when it comes to recruitment and retaining members. SRM is in it's 3rd generation of members which all dedicated to make the squad work and thrive as did Gen 2 and Gen 1 before.

Where should the old SRMs go? You have to admit, most of them are a perfect fit for XT. Psych, Monk, Blake? Not sure they'd fit in anywhere else. Mesial is another case... never would have guessed him joining XT /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

After experiencing the lowest of the low when it comes to squad game play, its pretty easy to see why people go to the bigger squads.

Players should police themselves. If they feel comfortable joining a squad where they know they have a better chance of winning, then so be it.

I'm never going to leave Blackshadow. I've enjoyed the challenge of trying to take on the bigger, more experienced squads. Our squad was created on the basis of trying to take on the "Full time" gamers with a group of people who have a lot of real life responsibilities and not much free time. We've done very well in the past, but most of our foundation of players has either gone out to pasture (IE- Full time real life) or have left because they realized they wanted an easier time winning squad games. More power to them.

Even though I like the challenge, it still disheartens me when so many people decide to leave. I never understood why so many people would rather have an easier time in a competition. At that point, what is the competition? Seeing how fast you can win versus an overall less experienced and skilled team?
