I will gladly donate my time to an advertising campaign of anyone wants to take the lead on that. I'm an experienced graphic designer, have my degree and all that.
I suppose I could design some banner ads, posters, junk like that and have them hosted here so if anyone feels like printing them out or hosting them on a site, it's available.
It would probably be a good idea to check with Microsoft to see if they have anything against us advertising the game. They released the source code, yes, but they still own the copyrights/trademarks.
AD campaign
You would think, but corporations have a habit of missing good PR opportunities in favor of making themselves look like asses.Adept wrote:QUOTE (Adept @ Apr 17 2008, 01:31 PM) Sounds good Rhow. I can't really imagine MS would make trouble. Allegiance is rare PR victory for them...
I'll draft up an advertising campaign plan when I get home tonight, and I'll see if I can't find some names at microsoft that would be interested in helping us out with source graphics, donations, sponsorships, etc. I'll also get names for people that run gaming magazines and see if I can't get us some articles published. The story behind Allegiance is certainly interesting enough.
Does anyone here have access to large format printers for posters to be hung at community centers, universities, etc., or has deep pockets and feels like financing some banner ads? We could probably get a paypal donation account going to finance our advertising costs, if anyone wants to step up and handle that aspect.

I don't think MS cares what happens to this game. It's served it's purpose as DPlay testing grounds. Besides, with the number of players that ever played this game, it's not like it would be a gold mine anyway. People nowadays want... simplier entertainment /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Good statement. Alleg isn't for everyone. A bit of advertising is great, but do let people know what they are getting into.ogorass wrote:QUOTE (ogorass @ Apr 18 2008, 08:17 PM) I don't think MS cares what happens to this game. If they just want a simple game to goof around in, blow stuff up, be a badass right away, and not work in a team, this is not the game for them. Don't say it is, because this is not the best game those people have never played.
If they want a game that actually has:
Strategy & real teamwork.
A system where you ONLY bring your own skill to each game, not months of mindless grinding on your level whatever character.
A game where there are NO NPCs or computer controlled opponents and you fight hard for a win with the rest of your team.
Where you might be outmatched in skill by some, but there is always something you can do to help your team win.
A game where a win has a real sense of accomplishment, because it isn't handed to you on a silver platter of easy.
Personally for me, I like the bringing only your skill (and rep) to each game. Kinda like old arcade fighting games. If you had a quarter and knew your stuff, you could work wonders. A game shouldn't be about how much TIME you devote to it. Games should reward skill each timea game is played, and not be about who has the most free time to grind a level ## character.
.... Maybe I'm just sick of current MMOs.
