Somewhat (un)surprisingly, there was a paper trail that contradicts the official PD line about the "totally random" sting at the strip club the exact night Stormy Daniels happened to be working there. Now the Columbus PD is exposed to a lawsuit and is going to eat a pile of massively negative PR.

FYI, a sane organization would fire those directly responsible for the act, and call for the resignation and/or reassign those responsible for the response to the act. Let's watch what the Columbus PD does, shall we?

The details are a bit sketchy and no motive has been provided so far.

The motive was to silence/punish Stormy Daniels because they didn't like her or the things she's been saying.

I'm sure there's a huge bunch of people who become cops to protect and serve, but you're out of your mind if you don't think a good portion of them are the bullies from high school who want the opportunity to throw their weight around with the full force of the law.

That being said, push might come to shove with a fight between the executive and judicial branch, in light of the attacks and "hearings" being demanded on and of the FBI. I also don't know the FBI's protocol of when they observe a crime without interfering to gather sufficient evidence, vs. when they actively try to stop a crime in action.
