Okay, so
a) You have the power to decide what people think and can therefore can change whatever they say to suit your perspective.
b) You are derailing what could be a productive talk about moving Allegiance forward. I'm just trying to get ideas going, and damnit, people are saying some pretty smart stuff. Please don't hijack threads.

Phantom032 wrote:QUOTE (Phantom032 @ Oct 1 2016, 10:30 AM) But hey, if you manage to get the network working feel free to share - there's still some groups trying once in a while on the side to get started, some also with interesting ideas for new features/gameplay ideas, and this is THE problem stopping them. Can't be that hard.
Yeah, I mean I know jack @#(! about coding (discovered a while ago that's not my bag, my bag is playtesting, writing, and what the MTG crowd would consider "design/development," i.e. core dev), but I had a lot of interesting ideas I wanted to throw around to take the gameplay Allegiance has and refine it down to its cores, then add on bells and whistles. I sat down and wrote a design documentation thingy and even worked out the various places I wanted the HUDs to go as well as how soloqueue and player behavior would be worked out community wide.
I even got drunk one night and dreamed up a worldwide tournament schedule that put its major tournaments just outside of major American sports events, codified the rules for each squad, and how the prize payout structure would work

There's a HELLUVALOT here for an Allegiance 2, and the huge upswing in ESports just makes it even better because right now most ESports is either singles events (Melee, Starcraft 2) or 5-on-5 MOBAs (League, Dota2). We're missing the big 11-11 style Football/Football (depending on your country) games that involve a helluvalot of strategy more than just one guy winning his one-on-one matchup and carrying the game.

If i got something I'll share. But i think i overestimated state of the art. Seems they implemented most of their demo in dotppt instead of dotnet ;-).
On the other hand: assert (ping()<0.01f);%problem solved
I have many nontechnical solutions to the delay problem, because i'm aware of the mathematical solutions and respect them. I wonder how much the game can be paced down until it is no more allegiance? (Or to positively spoken: if we upscaled all objects by factor 2.5 in size would anyone notice?).
Also I don't think that the net problems are a show stopper for allegiance. They weren't a stopper in 2000 and literally everything has gotten better in the internet (on technology side).

I mostly agree with you Lexaal, but on some critical areas I completely disagree.

I guess I must retire this thread. It's a shame it got hijacked by the thought police. Good luck Allegiance, this thread was your way out of the abyss.
