I doubt that will happen, so I think it's obvious that you're out. Thanks anyway.
You don't speak for the entire FAO community. The things kage is asking for are pretty reasonable (early/frequent releases).

Kage wants far more than that, I assure you. I've been reading his posts for years and it won't be but a couple more threads and he'll be demanding the keys.

I think that's where his "Allegiance 2" venture began. Given he had no restraints with that project, shouldn't he be finished by now?

As a perspective slightly outside this debate:

I think we should all join forces and work toward the common goal of bettering Allegiance.

I am not fully aware of the issues you had (or have) with the current administration, but I can guarantee you my 100% commitment behind any endeavour that betters Allegiance.

Unfortunately, you are not the barrier so even 100% of your commitment (whatever that is), is not helpful. It's a nice sounding gesture, but doesn't change a thing around here.

If you can find good coders who can isolate and fix the problem let me know and I will be more than happy to help with costs.

That would be a huge step in the right direction.

Not wanting to say "I told you so", but I told you so. Have been saying this for the better part of the last decade. There is no way on Gigacorp's Earth that ad-hoc, hither and thither, modifications to the codebase are somehow going to "fix" problems that were in evidence even before the game was released commercially, let alone as SHARED source (not open source, as many believe).

In order for any rational individual to invest the sums required to "fix" Allegiance, they would presumably require some return on their investment, which in turn would either require a 100% charitable effort (monetarily) or negotiations with MS, whom still own the game, the code and everything we've done to it over the past 12(?) years.

The bottom line: The game concept is STILL 100% OK. The code, the system, the servers, the etc etc etc are so outdated/messy/broken/confused that they cannot be salvaged at reasonable cost.

Allegiance 2 is the only answer - and not some individual's coding-hobby dream. A properly funded, properly managed, properly planned and properly executed effort.

:)

We're talking specifically about fixing the problem that was introduced with R5.

If you look at the dates of our posts, you can see that we were discussing this on the 12th and 13th of August which was around 4 days ago.
