I think that Allegiance would be fine if when capships are destroyed, they lingered around a bit breaking apart like the ships in Star Wars Battlefront 2 space battles, or the ships in this video.

I don't know how that'll fix our playerbase problem, but I was always disappointed that epic capship battles didn't end with a satisfying *boom *creeekk* *aahhhh!!!!* and the ships just disappear like normal fighters.

you guys got a big thick skull.. stop, i met STOP what you are doing, i do not care about MODS this or MODS that, high resolution or copy right or server problems..please stop it
you guys remind me of 8 doctors operating a 16 years old healthy patient with Mononucleosis..

if the game gonna die, it would have die long time ago, why do you think lot of vets stop playing ? i tell you why cause our community SUX, we are SUX big time
stop thinking if you change this or that, people be happy and play this game. STOP ALL THAT..BS.

we need to work on our community that is the only way this game survive, i have been back for the last 6 months all i see were abuse and after abuses
here is the example..tenforward, he is a good player and a good comm, still learning but how many of you abuse tenforward ?
i see new players been booted for not knowing how to following order, to you vets it is easy to read the command but not for a newbies..lot of things do happen on the dogfights
i see a lot of vets attacking newbies to increase their KB, tell me is not true ?
come on guys, i know about this, i have spending 7 years of my life teaching kids and adult how to fly, took a lot of money and time to get them stay in aviations
we have a club and we proud of what we have, i am sure allegiance members feel the same too...teach them and train them well, real war game is on sat or sun.

once you got the community strong. other things would be easy..

that is my two cent..

Globey dearest for me it is the god awful " lag " I experienced on a regular basis more than in game behavior but I see your point.

Let's break it down

So I am a potential new player who is curious about the game and end up wandering over to the website.

I might notice the brag video on the landing page is a YouTube link dated many years ago and without more videos by the owner
I might notice the message of the day is a couple of weeks old
I might trundle over to the forum and notice that many of the sections most recent posts are quite old
I might open general to get more details on the game to see a thread about the game being ready to die or some such
I might install the game... I haven't done so in awhile so reserve comment other than *fingers crossed* it is a100% bullet proof experience
I might notice the message during install, if it is still there, telling me I probably cannot play when I please
I might play the tutorial and notice the key binding is cumbersome and unique to other games
I might get to the lobby and notice while it appears possible to start your own game there Is only one active one
I might log into main and notice game starts take quite some time to happen and many times with a heap of drama
I might launch into the game and notice the graphics are a little last century
I might play a bit and notice that the pace is brisk and the players can be unforgiving of newbie mistakes
I might play more and notice the in game play has noticeably more lag than others
I might play to the end and notice that a single game can be quite a time commitment

I might play another and another which tends to make the new player quite unique and frankly specialp like say Blacksun94' :iluv:

Almost every single thing is fixable with the talent on hand, just the lag thing and perhaps behavior being the outliers.
Sure some our petty but why NOT fix them?

Globey dearest while Im sure it was not a nice thing you describe we need 10 more new Tenforwards and where we need to focus.
Finally you are sexy beast when you throw a @#(! fit bud : ;)

Like i say.. the game is free and we got all the time in the world to work on that, do you know what is like to train someone to fly ? one little mistake and a person life could be gone for ever and the cost of life cost more money than i care for, each person we took in, we gave 100% of training , it cost a lot of money to train someone to fly and after the training we continue teach them to share the love of flying.
every days i ask myself and the club founders why are we doing this, they all answer (for the love of flying).
after seven years of hard working and burn out, i decide to step back and i watch, what i saw was the most beautiful things happen right in front of my eyes, kids that i train join the military , some are join the airline
which i know about it already but when you see the family spending time together, that is priceless
allegiance community should be like that.. a family , we been a family before that is how allegiance survive and our reward were free allegiance and open sources codes
if we can get the community going strong maybe one days we can have our copy right..
please don't bite the hands that feed you, don't ask Microsoft to hand you a copy right, we have not earn that right yet
believe me i have tried

I agree with most of what you say, Mrc.
The things on this list can be fixed with the right powers given to us and the right updating.

With three threads being in General, I'm going to bring this discussion over to the marketing forum after I receive powers to make edits.

You're giving the community a perspective of outsiders, and I think that is what's good for us right now.

Hello out there,

after not playing regular for some time i have a different look on alleg: What we actually lack is something that keeps the game attractive for a player for a long time. I was staying for so long because of the RT people. Without joining RT i would have left very soon. The community of alleg is not that kind of carebearing super nice people that attract a foreigner to immedietly love them. This will never be the main folk of alleg because alleg is a competitive game and competitive games attract a certain kind of people. Originally i wanted to write a deep analysis here but with my new job i cant really find the time to do so. So here is the short one.
There are alot of different kinds of players out there. Some of them share the competitive basic values but differ on alot of other things:
(First a shortcut to game development theory that you need to understand some of my argumentation: There are some different kinds of challenges. The first one is execution challenge, that needs pure eye - to - hand coordination or reflexes and so on like aiming for the enemy's ship. The second one is the fast - decision - challenge. Here you have to think fast about some things you know but have to calculate fast. The third one i want to touch here is the thought - challenge, that forces you to really think about what you are doing and cant be solved by pure reflexes or training.)

- The Action Competitive (TAC): He wants to be challenged by execution. He wants it hard and difficult and he needs challenging enemys. We already serve that kind of people with dogfighting.
=> The only thing i could think of to give the TAC a better experience is a Dogfight league.

- The Diving Competitive (TDC): He wants to "dive" deep into the game and its theory so he can get a competitive advantage. But he doesnt want to train execution for ages to compete.
=> Here an improvement would be a good wiki with exact numbers where the TDC can find anything he needs.

- The Achievement Competitive (TACC): The TACC wants to compete with others and get rewarded publicly. That is motivating him to try for the next higher achievement.
=> This will be covered in the last section "The Bigger Behind".

- The Decisionmaker (TDM): This is the classical kind of field commander. He knows how to decide under pressure and feels good with doing so.
=> We already serve this well with the Alleg commanding system. But we actually mostly cant keep that kind of people long enough so they can experience commanding. Actually i have no good idea to serve this issue.

- The Commiting Competitive (TCC): The TCC wants to commit to something bigger that can only be reached by competition. As part of a faction / team / etc. he commits for the bigger goal of his community and challenges himself for getting better so he can commit more.
=> This will be covered in the last section "The Bigger Behind".

- The RPG competitive (TRPGC): He wants to be challenged with pathos. The TRPGC wants to fight/play for something he can identify with. Then he feels challenged and bound to an idea.
=> This will be covered in the last section "The Bigger Behind".

- The Competitive Architect (TCA): The Architect wants to build up something and make it be seen. But it shouldnt be for a small time but some kind of monument forever. The needed competition for his goal makes it worth working on it.
=> This will be covered in the last section "The Bigger Behind".

Four times I have mentioned "The Bigger Behind" and this is what i think alleg lacks today. There is no "meaning" behind the games you play. You are commiting to a game for (sometimes) hours and then the game finishes. What is the effect of it ? Nothing, everything back on the starting status. The squad league gave some meaning to it as it was a championship. You can see the effect of this "meaning" at events. People feel like participating in something greater and so they show up. So what we need is a system of events that gives permanent meaning. I am recommending something like this to attract all the different kinds of players mentioned above:

The Bigger Behind: Make a map of star systems, a really big one (AutoRealm anyone?). Setup all the factions we have on it and a specific time. Bring this to a webpage on our frontpage so nobody can miss it. Show the actual "ingame" time and when the next events are scheduled. Around that setup a news system where actual RPG - like posts about the last events are posted so it shows the running of things. Update these things weekly.

Events: every weekend an event is organized. The result of that event influences the starmap of "The Bigger Behind". But dont stop here by updating the map. Make things matter: IC captures a big storage depot of Giga and for the next event they get the bonus from it (like +starting money). Make it unbalanced! Perfect unbalance is what keeps competitive games going because it motivates and challenges the enemy.

Players: For joining one side the Player gets some kind of credit. The worse the problems of this side are the more credits he gets for this (stackrating?). What can the player do with this credits? An example: he can buy himself in the starting team of a specific event. Or he can buy himself in a specific forum for the RPG of a faction and takesover an officer place of this faction. So he can release news posts for this and participate on strategic decisions on the starmap.

Squads: Squads will be a central point of this system. They can be hired by a commander for the events for his side (auction?). They collect prestige for every participation and for every player they field. This prestige is collected and will setup a leaderboard and open up new options. Like the squad can later on field their own faction on the starmap and buildup starbases for themselfs etc...

Organisation: To run this system it needs some people committing. Some of this people are marked as "official" and some are marked as "secret". Secret means that their identity is hidden and they use a different account for certain things that gets handed over if the person behind changes. Some people at least needed:
- Technical administrator (official): Neutral Person that tracks the starmap and settles conflicts between faction leaders.
- Event administrator (official): Neutral Person that announces events and controls the event boni and mali.
- Faction Leader (secret): Every faction needs a leading person that writes news posts and political statements in RPG style.
- Faction officers (secret): Every faction can have some highly reknown people also writing for them and being a council for the faction leader. Later on they could also try to revolt against the faction leader and so on.
- Squad officials (secret): Squads get their own diplomats they can send out and officially contract for events etc. This can be secret with people behind changing. For sure the squad members themself will know who is doing it.

Some of you might now think "What the hell? I dont want this!" But this is the point. We need a wide playerbase that shows different kinds of players and everyone is attracted by something different. This system could only run with decent commitment. If this appeals to you people, I would offer my help with concepts and overviewing some of the processes at the start.

Summary (tl;dr): We need features and content!

Greetings
