Can we not just start by keeping it simple?
Simple scheduled "Zone Games", basically regular games with arranged decent commanders and factions and maybe hidden maps if you are feeling fancy.
Do that every week or two to try and get a bit of momentum in. then start doing fancy stuff.
not THAT complicated, just a few numbers. besides this way u can keep certain storyline and not just a schedules pug.
add something to catch the masses.

Well, the trick is striking a balance obviously. One of the barriers to organizing this is these forums. The number of people reading these is actually fairly low so trying to market it through the forums only is bound to fail.

Phal - At first? Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying. As Spunky said, people knowing there's a game will make them more likely to come on.
I'm not against special cores, custom maps, custom whatever. What I don't want to see at first is anything persistent. If we're not doing anything persistent, then we can change what we want to get into a nice groove without having issues of things being vastly different from one game to the next that should be the same in a persistent game.
To be entirely fair, I'd love to see a persistent zone game type deal - Perhaps not as in-depth as the Alleg Wars were since that can be a behind-the-scenes nightmare, but certainly stuff like "whoever controlls this area of the game map gets +x starting money" or having the game settings determined by where the battle takes place, and having players choose which direction things go in. (A nice system is actually falling into place as I write this). My thing is I just don't want to start big and fail miserably because it will ruin a lot of people's thoughts on the zone games. If we start small and work our way up, then we won't be setting the bar too high.
