Sorry, that was not achieved by the brave french, but by the incapable german leadership, that let the british actually escape. Different versions of that stop order for the german army float around. A chance for Göring to prove the worth of the Luftwaffe, a chance for peace with the "Brothers" in Englang, etc... It was not because of brave and bitter defence by the french army. I am not at home, otherwise, I could give you some titles and authors of books about that disaster. (It was one for both the brits, as they lost their materiel and for the german, as they lost a major chance of capturing a huge number of british soldiers thus making the brits more inclined to a separate peace treaty.)
When you analyze the war the Germans really should have won.

England was on the brink of collapse when Göring decided to go after RADAR installations instead of keeping up the pounding. With England defeated they could have focused 100% of their efforts on the Eastern Front and crushed Russia.

The Luftwaffe switched to bombing cities, not radar installations.

Hmm, well I won't lie. My knowledge of the Battle of Britain was from 8th grade on a paper I did.

However, the point of the matter was Britain would have finally fallen under Germany's pressure had they maintained their strategy.

Born ready baby.

I'm also off to the camera shop with a wad of notes in my sky rocket. I can't sleep.

mrchaos, i intended my france comments to be sarcastic, as i felt that France overall had little impact on either WW1 or WW2 . While i can imagine that it kinda sucked to be them in comparison to Germany's war machine in either conflict, i don't feel like the wars explicitly depended on their efforts as a whole to win the war.
