I just want to say the Allegiance Server and Lobby (Windows builds) has been run and used under WINE, but (read here MrC) this is not an ideal solution for many people save for the hobbyists (like me...). Yes, I have connected to my own local beta server with the beta client (under both WINE and Windows).
That said, the last time I tried to make it work I had no success, and a native solution would be preferable anyway. Maybe it wouldn't get used much, but the more options the better IMHO*.
EDIT: * If you're willing to spend the time for it. Remember, it's your time, not the trolls.
