Copy-paste the existing drop-down and change a few things. That's the very easy part, though.

In case you hadn't noticed from Girlyboy's wall o'text, there's a ton of work for the artists to rework every ship to either have more skins, or change the existing skins so reasonable colours can be added. Then there's how to find the extra skins or colours or whatever, and if you need to modify the core format to fit any of that in it's a whole new can of worms.

All for a tiny aesthetic change that barely anyone would notice.
