I thought the training missions WERE the game for the first week, after i got bored with those i played around with the other buttons, and found out the free online feature works pretty well :)

When I bought Alleg in April of 2000 I didnt know it was an ONLINE ONLY game. Upon finding this out I was, well to put it litely, PISSED.

However after flying the "training missions" and since the 1st month was free as was the free zone(FZ) I thought I would give it a shot. Played about 6 hours and fell in love. Preffered the AZ however. After the wife got home from shopping we went right back to best buy in Long Beach Ca and bought another cory and another joystick and have played on and off since. Most times I stopped playing was because of an update or some change that wouldnt let me log on.

This is and will continue to be the greats online multi-player game ever. I still wait for MS anouncement of Alleg2

Started playing in 2001 when I was introduced to Allegiance on a LAN party.
Did the training missions and then played a couple of games using my Force Feedback steering wheel (didn't have an adequate stick at the time and refused to play with keyboard). The Steering wheel was awesome for cap-ships =) but I eventually I got a real stick.
Then I was pushed in the command seat (still LAN) and played the rest of my LAN's in that position (few wanted to command, all wanted to whore away in HVY Int's, hmm sounds familiar somehow) and I didn't mind, I like that part of the game the most.

In between LAN's I read up what could be found and printed form work (I didn't have internet at home at the time) on commanding from sites like Allegiance Vault or Planet Allegiance.
Bought a copy of the game after AZ was shut down, it only cost me ~1 Euro :D
Continued to Command at LAN parties and tried to join the community in early 2003 when I finally had a good internet connection at home. Played some using SOVroute (as Raven or SWE_Raven or similar), sucked like hell and was then promptly deported to Thailand by my employer and forgot about the game.
Got back late 2009 for a revival LAN party with my old buddies, never got the LAN sever working but I got hooked anyway.
Have now read most of the wiki and passed AFS and Cadet II and still suck like hell, but at least now I know what I need to train on in order to improve :D

I still don't know how to play this game.

I just kind of float and shoot people in the back (right Spidey?)

Read the first week of the CDT material before logging in for the first time, because that's my MO with every game. Tried to sign up to the forums, but something didn't go through. Tried to do the training missions but my non American keyboard didn't have the keys in the "correct" spot if at all, the last mission crashed my comp 4 times, and I couldn't find how to get the mouse to work correctly so I had to attempt to fly with the keyboard. Logged in game and joined a newbie game that miraculously had a couple people on, there I remapped my controls and flew around a bit. Joined a real game and loved it. Got my forum account to finally work and joined CDT.

Pico recruited me into his cadet program in early 2000. I still haven't graduated, but I have learned not to turn my back on him.

Certainly the jump straight in type and had some people like dreamwalker who were great but also bad influences at "late night" but learnt over time, did cadet (which wasn't all that amazing at the time) .. mostly I learnt from the people I saw as helpful types and "vets with reps" in the community like aarm, lykourgos, americano etc

That has been your MO for the last 10 years at least
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.
