Allegiance as private club
Yea,I just came from a PU game where 8 people were wandering around in Ints in potential enemy sectors with no enemy anything in them.I usually nan or probe,so I hit F3 and saw what sector their miners were in.I tell everybody the miners are in * sector and launch to that sector.
I think it was about 50 seconds later,Spidey told everyone to get to that sector and kill the miner.
They mined the sector for a full 10 minutes before anyone got off their butts and got to that sector.
By that time the miner was 2 sectors away in their farthest back sector and the yellow team was rushing our ops and tp's galving them like madmen, while about 7 ints sat in the old sector scratching their heads wondering where the miners went.I'm sorry that the delicate newbs have to hear it,and it would be nice if they understood that no one was complaining about them personally, but we had all these (10)+ people wandering around like they were drunk or something.
What's supposed to be said?"Good job,you are all very talented in the art of sucking?"or how about
"Thanks you for making the commander work his ass off for an hour just to watch you kiddes fly around in circles like an aerial romper room? (for all of you younguns, that's an old TV show for children). How did a TV show predict the future of a space combat video game?

I yelled at a noob the other day for a few seconds, but he wasn't reading the chat for the explaination that what he was doing was bad - he was nanning an enemy miner we were trying to kill en route to their garrison's green door and as a result it lived.Clay_Pigeon wrote:QUOTE (Clay_Pigeon @ Jan 16 2010, 10:36 PM) Now, if there are specific situations, with specific players and chatlogs, please name and shame.
It hasn't occurred to you that maybe the game is good because it is somewhat exclusive? Games that appeal to everyone suck. They are watered down crap designed to have 0% content and 100% addiction.
The community is self-filtering in that people who do not read, play as a team, have any clue what's going on, or are @#$%@#s get weeded out. Obviously there are a lot of people who have played for a while yet still have some of those traits, but if you start off playing and display significant amounts of some or all then you are quickly clipped out. This is very very good. I don't see a lot of the people in alleg that do the things that drive me crazy in other games -- "I'm too lazy to read the manual so how do I fire missiles?" etc.
There is no other game that requires the level of teamwork that alleg requires. Take the community of any other game and have them try to accomplish anything in alleg and they will fail miserably. Those are the communities we do not want.
I have also yet to see anyone rip on someone for asking a legitimate question. I've seen smart-ass responses to questions, or things that would get you in trouble if you were stupid enough to do them (spam the buy ship button to get a ship, etc). But I also don't think newbs are so $#@!ing stupid as to believe either of them.
tl;dr --
1)The kind of people you are advocating we baby through the game are exactly the kind of people we don't want playing.
2)Newbs aren't stupid.

you know im really getting sick of this "be nice to new people you are all so mean waaaaa" bull@#(!. Nobody is mean to noobs besides podding them. I have not seen in a long time someone ridicule a noob or bitch them out for not knowing something. Just because we treat ignorant voobs like you $#@!s like @#(! does not me we are intolerant of a new players who do not know the game yet. Not only are we tolerant of them, we are patient with them. Every noob who isnt spamming or being incredibly annoying (and even some that are) have their questions answered and directed to cdt or afs or help or alleg or whatever the $#@! our 20 training programs are now. take your whiny ass somewhere else

Clay_Pigeon's pretty much right on the mark here...very rarely, I see some idiot voob trying to bull@#(! a newb, but there's always at least three people willing to helpfully and truthfully answer questions. I hardly ever see newb abuse, except for the occasional nutjob who can't handle sitting in the lobby for five minutes between games, ignores people telling him to calm down and be patient, and ends up throwing a massive tantrum over it.

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.
