You guys should really try mumble.
Don't knock it before you try it.
I find the client interface to be balls, but the quality is unsurpassed.

No it isn't... It's easy. All the server admin stuff is handled via the client. You start the server for the first time, log in with the supplied username and password, and copy paste the token given into "permissions>use token", at which point, your client is linked and you will always have server admin. Then you can make any and all changes to the server via the client itself.Grimmwolf_GB wrote:QUOTE (Grimmwolf_GB @ Dec 21 2009, 02:56 PM) Setting up a TS3 server is a pita. I removed all traces of it and continue using TS2 until they have a proper installer and interface.
The setup for ts3 is utterly brilliant. Plus, did I mention that you can have multiple servers open in the same client?
go mumble!
Opensource all the way!
Moreover I demand this (from wiki):
QUOTE Mumble is designed to fit into an existing social structure for gamers. As such, the server is fully remote controllable over D-Bus or Ice. Channels can be created, users moved and even new virtual servers created. An example is included which shows how to use this integration to connect the server to a Battlefield 2 server and automatically place users in channels matching the right team and squad.[/quote]

I figured it out. Mumble FAO server is 1.2 (latest version) while I had 1.1.8 client. Updating to the latest client fixed it.parcival wrote:QUOTE (parcival @ Dec 24 2009, 09:37 PM) Can't connect to it. Are you using the default Mumble port or something else?

Yeah, me neither. They use a new method of identification and an enhanced codec that gives even better results than the previous one but the price was no backwards compatibility for the clients trying to connect to a new server.SaiSoma wrote:QUOTE (SaiSoma @ Dec 26 2009, 04:28 AM) cool:). Sorry, I didn't know it wasn't backwards compatible.
