Eh? Purple Merc's captured the Yellow SY (which was stated as a primary goal at the beginning of a game). Blue Trixians built an op beside it later on...
Yellow garrison was destroyed by a Purple Merc's FB run.

Yes, and during the poll of draw Blue captured the SY in a lightning strike.

It doesn't matter who had the SY as long as the Extreamest (trix) team had it :)

Which they did!

Congrats!

Battle Report

The Trixian forces wanted the shipyard, but they knew there would be heavy defence from the Progressive forces. So they enlists the help of some Bios mercenaries by the name of Toiling Under. However something must've gotten lost in transmission, as the IC squadron Rolling Thunder came instead. As it was such short notice, they could not get many pilots together, so they let Gandalf fly a ship instead of polishing interceptors as he normally does. Also on the way to the battlefield, they came across a grizzled band of veterans who liked to play cards; they were bored of blackjack so decided to come along for the fight. They were called kings or something.

As battle begun, force-commander General Solamnus led his forces deep into enemy territory, with the aim of disrupting the enemy economy. This met with varying levels of success as the Progressive forces were numerous and well-trained. For their part, the Progressive clearly felt that the main enemy was their former brethren and concentrated their attack on them in the north and north-westerly sectors.

Back home, Gandalf was well-used to running errands for the real pilots when he wasn't polishing ints, and he decided to put his skills to good use, frequently turning up in Trixian Territory with gifts of superior Coalition technology. The Trixians were delighted with these gifts, especially the booster technology. This helped cement the coalition between the forces.

After putting up a struggle for a long time, eventually strength of numbers began to tell as the Progressives destroyed the Trixian expansion base and pushed on towards their home sector and ultimately victory. However General Solamnus planted a teleport near the Trixian garrison in order to help defend their final base. The progressives unleashed wave after wave of onslaughts upon the garrison, but a combination of brave Trixian defence despite having inferior ships, the sheer firepower of the Coalition forces and the sheer number of ships involved in the conflict managed to fend off these ferocious attacks, and eventually the Trixians managed to re-establish their expansion technology.

Meanwhile, General Solamnus commanded Private Parcival to engage in an audacious attempt to capture the shipyard from the Progressives. Despite only having an escort of 2 ships, this seemingly suicidal mission ended in success, which brought a morale boost for all involved.

The Progressive forces were starting to run out of options, and went for stealth craft to attack the economies of the dual fleets attacking them. These ships had some success, but ultimately this only delayed their ultimate defeat. Meanwhile, Gandalf was wondering why his colleagues never let him fly ships before, as he slaughtered heavy interceptors in his scout. The Great Solamnus recognized this fine work and bought him an advanced scout. Such honour for a mere cleaning man!

Soon a strategy was devised for clearing out Progressive forces from the area. Teleport probes would be dropped, and swarms of fighter/bomber hybrids would sweep in to the remaining Progressive sectors to wipe them out. Further exchanges of technology took place between the two unlikely allies to facilitate this plan. The Progressive forces put up one hell of a fight, but eventually the swarms of figbees brought success to the Trixian/merc forces, and the few remaining Progressives retreated, leaving their shipyard in the hands of Trixian forces, after Rolling Thunder gave it to them. They're an honourable bunch those RT guys... well, honourable for mercenaries, anyway. As for these kings or whoever they are, I'm not sure they're quite all there as I heard one of them shout "straight flush!" whilst flying into a rock :o

Autobalance and symmetrical games would be better than assigning squads.

I liked the old school ZGs where we had big mixed teams run by the top coms of Alleg. Having squad A be on one side, squad B on another makes the games much less interesting for me. They just don't feel like Zone games. Big games for all skill levels and the whole player pool, instead of anything squad based...

They aren't squad based now. It was just an easier way of getting the majority of the players togetehr.

No offence Adept, but you must be the only pilot that likes the old way. The sheer amount of complains after each ZG, prior to me changing the format was stupid.

"ZGs are just one stupid big PuG"
"No fun for anyone"
"total crap"

What you are asking for are ZGs to be storyless big sat night games again.

Edit: What i'm bring to alleg is the change of a slighty DIFFERENT game every month or so.
