Correct wrote:QUOTE (Correct @ Nov 17 2008, 11:34 AM) Why would you use minepacks instead of prox.
For fighters: because they cant deploy prox
for scouts: because you get twice as many and they activate more quickly

Yes Rix can get MPs. And while it doesn't falsify your statement, it's a bit like me saying "I've never seen anyone eat watermelon for breakfast". I'm sure some people do, but I've never seen it and it doesn't make my statement any less valid.
That being said yeah, Exp is played the most because it's the strongest techpath for about half an hour, and most SGs are decided early.

QUOTE activate more quickly[/quote]
AFAIK activation time is the same, but they are smaller, damage more and last shorter.

Because of the size difference prox does more damage against fast enemies (which you can then kill). The enemy rolls through the prox for longer making the total damage done higher. Minepack does more damage against slow enemies in which case the enemy does not go through the entire minepack if they are not much. A hvy int can boost at a fairly high speed through minepack and not die. The same is not true of prox.
There use to be a prox vs minepack damage calculator in excel format that listed the total damage done at different speeds. Some wierd things happen such as ints going really really fast (>500 mps?) can get through prox.

Would make sense. The collision algorithm would only take place every x cycles of movement and thus meaning it wouldn't be in the prox from more than a few collisions in theory if you're fast enough.
Like speed cameras, go fast enough and they're blind!

You need to go about 180MPH to beat speed cameras, as shown by Top Gear S1E1.

I think madp made this, I hope he has still got the graph somewhere.
