Yep, make it THAT MUCH HARDER to build community!!!
Thanks to all XT who have helped and showed! at least some people want to build community /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />
thanks lyko but its more then just a little to late for that. would have been nice... ohh several weeks ago.
For all you wankers who are badmouthing XT. We have spent weeks training and teaching SPQR. Even before this tourney we were doing that. However, whoever was involved in planning and setting this even up, thought it would be a good idea to put XT with SPQR, it only makes sense. Put the best with the worst? Teach them a thing or two. I agree. but the thing is, when you have a squad who already doesnt really want to play, and put them with a squad who really hasnt figured out how they play. You end up with a bunch of very eager newblets, and a bunch of exasperated vets.
I am trying to find a way to say that you guys are full of @#(!, without badmouthing SPQR because they are trying very very hard. They do not deserve to be stuck with a squad like XT who does not want to play, well, at all.
The thing that I want to point out, no matter how the teams had been arranged, I think that XT would still be bitching about playing a very long tourney and having to rely upon another squad.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Its not worth MY time to rearrange my life to show up for a game I dont really want to be at. I would rather play a scrimmage practice with mixed SPQR/ XT teams every week, because at least then we wouldnt end up gloating about how we beat up on a team of newbies.
The issue isnt that SPQR is that bad, the issue is that XT is only a little bit better then the other squads, and even then we have to show up pilots. Nowadays we have trouble showing to our normal games, let alone showing up to this little wankfest of a tourney.
sure, if XT was fielding normal teams, we would maybe be able to be competitive against these other matchups. as is, its going to be ugly. Right now, I hardly give a $#@! about allegiance, and I give even less of a $#@! about this tourney.
We'll show up and play, those of us that still do. But honestly, this whole tourny is a wankfest. As much as I love SPQR, you can't expect a squad that started less the 6 months ago, has has barely any experienced vet player base, and recruited from a wide variety of talent, to be able to jump up and play a tourny game with another squad. They'd played maybe 4 SG's prior to this? XT from the begining had players helping out, Void put in, and still does, a lot of effort to make them better. But as you know, things can only be learned with time. Which they didn't have. At all.
So yes, parts of XT are angry about this, other are angry at the community in general, and how it's becoming. I'm almost ready to uninstall myself because of the sheer stupidity of must PuG's. It's hard to stay motivated and work a schedule out to play, when 95% of the games aren't worth it. And when you screw up the 5% that do, the SG's, to make a tourny that puts two groups together that aren't compatible/of equal skill level then you just ruin it for those that only play SG's.
Yeah

pfft we have to rely on @GB! That means I have Grim endlessly complaining and Champy bursting out in the German equivalent of Cable's anger!
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

to be up front. I enjoy playing with Legion, I enjoy teaching as well, so this is part of it. They have a lot of heart and are working hard at it.
Maybe I can relate things a bit better for some of my squad mates, since they appear to want to air our laundry here and it seems this community as usual loves to stir up drama at other people's expense . . . on thing I'll never miss if I leave and don't look back.
It's obvious we are hurting a tad bit on the moral side, the community's reaction to the April fools joke left a few of our members with the attitude of "well if the community is that screwed up, I'm out", we lost a few to real life issues and just general fatigue and then even more to the tournament.
Now let me explain some things about this tournament. We knew from the get go that we have nearly no shot, the law of averages does not work in this game of allegiance. Instead we took the attitude of lets help another squad become familiar with the game. Anyone who thinks the teams are equal is living in a different world than the rest of us, especially when its viable for one squad to show a majority and another to show much less. But we accepted this. The next thing is the amount of time this tournament covers, almost 3 months, and for that time frame we have no real squad games. Most of XT live mainly for normal, highly competative squad games so a tournament like this removes their motivation to play, remove that for long enough and pilots may realize they don't need to come back. Now before you go saying something stupid let me bring you back to reality.
This is a game, we play this game for enjoyment. A majority of XT is hand picked because of our desire for extremely competative game play, they have been through the rough days of coming together as a squad and playing as a unit, many don't find it fun to go back to those days. For any of you to demand someone play when they don't desire to, because you think they should is selfish and assanine. When you make a comment like "community spirit at its best /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> : you should stop and take a look at yourself. How does this motivate someone to donate their time for your game enjoyment when they aren't getting any. But instead you take a chance to call them down, to kick them . . . yeah motivation for them to come back to the game and join a community with that type of attitude . . . thanks for making the SL's and ASL's job a lot easier.
One day you will realize that all those pilots flying out there don't have to take your @#(!, they can just up and leave you to fly in circles.
