But uh, yeah, I learned a lot that game, and a few more things in this thread. Thanks guys. I shall continue my quest for knowledge:) I still need to overcome my hatred for losing bases and sharing sectors. Kill a Sup, lose an op... I've got a bad habbit of wanting to save the op then kill the sup, which is significantly harder. Oh well, live and learn:) I tried commanding yesterday, but I only had a few people on my team really doing their jobs:(

I think thats part of the problem, you get these huge teams, 95% of them don't do anything, and you don't know what to do. Thats pretty much why I stopped comming on the main server, and stick to smaller servers, where if say, 20% of your team goofs off, you lose (of course it also depends on the comms ability, which for me is the main reason my teams loses anyways /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />)

Ill happily micromanage ONE miner. That way unless they got a scary ass miner hunter with upped Tac Im sure we got some sort of $#@!ing economy. More then one requires one more person who isnt a bonehead, or selfish dirty whore... * sigh *

In the end, with large main games, while having a competant comm is half of the battle, having a competant team is the other half. With two competant comms, than it boils down to which team has the better teamwork and coordination. The only major game I have seen where the Comm determined who won and who lost was my last game, where a rank 12 comm fought against a rank 3 returning vet. The returning vet spammed caltrops, rushed bombers, built his first tech in his home system, and only expanded to four additional systems throughout the entire game (HiHigher was the map). Two of those systems he expanded to only late in the game (and only with teles).

His strategy was some kind of bomber rush, but even though he had some initial successes (took out an expansion, although, our comm went supremacy), ultimately, after our comm got us Adv figs (while they only had regular ints), it was over. We researched bombers and obliterated his expansion and garrison in one go.

More or less, in larger games, unless a comm makes completely boneheaded mistakes on a consistant basis, it will usually boil down to which team has the better teamwork. After all, a comm without a team is nothing.

This is completely untrue!! I LIKE to have people run my miners, and usually give it to somebody if they are available, because, why not?? It's really not that difficult of a job, but as comm, it's just 1 more thing to have to obsess over.

But given the need I am more than willing to do my own MADDA FACKING MINERS!!! I just sometimes suck at it and/or forget about them.
