If you got a message from BV today over ASGS login, does that mean you picked up a ban (which are cumulatively, and each add more time). Just curious, because I popped on for a game today, but was able to log in.
Seems like the ability to change a games name AFTER people have joined the server, then force a launch when they are on a team.... is um..... crappy.
BV why all the ban ? we were not on the newbies server
If you want to learn to command here is your best route to earn respect so you can field a team . . . . or something along these lines.RHINO_Mk_II wrote:QUOTE (RHINO_Mk_II @ Feb 26 2008, 06:41 AM) Thanks for the compliment; it's not that I need to learn how to fly on the newbie servers, it's more about learning to comm. Nobody will let me comm (and for good reason of course, I'm not objecting) on the main server, and I can rarely come on at peak times to participate in a side game. As for cadet, I applied to the next course already. But the point of my post (as I'm past the old limit for the newbie servers anyways) was that having the limit at (4) kept experienced newbies from trying out commanding. At least me. /glare.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":glare:" border="0" alt="glare.gif" />
Play alot and learn the game from all aspects.
Take all the CDT courses.
Start with Miner Defence, get on it, stay on it, make sure miners live (You'll learn the AI this way)
Eventually ask a commander if you can mange his miners for him (If you did the above enough on Miner D, they will notice and trust you to do this)
Hunt miners, pickup this role and get good at it, you should now know Miner AI and be able to predict where they are, now you learn if you can accurately do that as a commander you will want to make it as easy as possible for your team to get to these locations, so this will in the long run let you predict where to send cons, carriers and where to direct your team.
Join ACS - They will fill in the rest.

As a side note, I'm also rather saddened by the lowering of level limit for the newbie server. I got to comm there for 1/2 a game before my level was too high. Not much chance any more for some of us to try comming before we're restricted to pickup games. Although maybe this should go in a different thread. It is rather frustrating. I passed rank (5) after about 20 hours of gameplay time, probably because I was lucky on the winning team. But anyways, could you consider this?
If you want to learn how to com just make a NOV only server using the settings(not the newbie servers) or a no adv server so big bad vets wont mutiny you. And com your heart away. Although if some inter's join your server you may still be mutinied:) But a nov only game would be your best bet until you understand more about commanding. Then do a no adv server and work you way up. And in a year or 2 you may be able to com on the main server:)

Or com really late at night, that always works too. I know thats where i got my few first games in. Wait till your an Int with some experience, then when all the vets don't want to com be like: Fine if no one wants to com i'm going to try to com and get mutinied and/or lose horribly to that vet com (A hint it helps if you FOLLOW the advice of the people flyin for ya(especially any vets your recognize.))
I'm going to review that game's logs and identify who did this. They will not be playing Allegiance for a long time.
PKK gave me a good suggestion for semi-solving this problem, but it's not 100% accurate. I'll talk to the other server ops and see if we can get this done.
