The Phoenix lasers fire a model so it can be done. But the model is dark, not bright and zappy.

o rly, thats cool. The lighting should be disabled for all weapons sprites I think, including 3d models. That would be a code change, but it would make the 'lasers' less dark.

Adaven wrote:QUOTE (Adaven @ Jan 29 2008, 03:50 PM) no, regular guns can shoot models instead of sprites from the same joints. It is an option in ICE and is what Phoenix lasers do (longtoms used to do as well).

<edit> The strobes on the models do show up, I'm going to add some to the laser model and see what happens.
this sounds cool... /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Well, except I don't think I'm making the lights correctly. I've never really messed with joints before. In particular, how does one set the scale?

Yeah, I totally suck at making strobes. Can someone else take a whack at it? It shouldn't be that hard, except for me of course.

I don't suppose Alleg's 3D engine supports emissive materials, does it? If so, making a model with full-emissive would solve the "too dark" problem handily.

Unfortunately, no.

Well I don't know what you're using, but in milkshape you have to scale the model relative to the joint, there's no way to make the joint smaller or larger I don't think, so the model has to be adjusted instead

I can try I suppose, but I've never tested a model projectile with strobe joints. It does work?

yes they do:

i guess have a play around, try adding multiple ones, changing the size of the model, smaller model ( -> bigger strobe) should result in a larger glow around it

Yeah weedy, it works, I made a gun that shoots IC figs and the lights there show up.

I'll mess around with the scale some and see what happens. Does location matter? I assume it needs to be on the outside of the mesh, but what about in relation to the cvh?

Also, did anyone ever figure out how to change the timings?
