I can translate from one to the other pretty quickly.
Translating the Academy would be a non-issue, considering I wrote most of it and know the meaning behind my own wordings.
Translating cadet: wouldn't be much of a problem either.

I think it is a great idea Vly. With wikis being used now it would only make everything that little bit easier.

Now, "how to TT in Korean" would be a interesting read/look.

There was/is a guy who wanted to have alleg translated to Korean...

Hum, now lets see...

Observation 1: Allegiance is played entirely in english.
O2: A lot of people have difficulties with english (can you believe that?)
O3: But interestingly, some of these people actually make it into the game.
O4: These people might be interested in some support, either technical or for gameplay.
O5: However, this support cannot be entirely in their native language, since it would conflict with O1.

Proposed solution:
- wiki articles in a couple of languages explaining how to install, begin to play and survive in the community;
- language sub-forums, depending on how many Allegites master each language, where these players can find a helping hand and ask questions in their own language without worying about how stupid they sound;
- in both places, a handy glossary and a reminder that Allegiance is played in english but welcomes all players ready to learn some linguo before they start enjoying themselves.

Additional remark: a player who can't master communications in english will have a hard time when it comes to joining squads and whatnot, but can still have fun.

It's not about academy, it's about helpline (maybe a seperate forum language general forum). It's much easier to fix problems, if you're using your mother language. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Here is a good example of what seems possible with the current wiki setup.

The problem with language specific sub-sections for the helpline:
you lose about 95% of the potential help you could get. German speaking players could consider themselves lucky, but when we go to finnish, swedish, spanish, ... the number of helpline people diminishes quickly.
Also: solutions posted in a language subsection could get lost, because they were not posted in english.

So we should work on a multilanguage helpline wiki?

I am not entirely sure who is the top dog with the wiki. I know BV and Freebeer are men to seek out about it. Perhaps when they rise from their slumber they may give us some info on what is possible.

From the top of my head I would say that if the wiki could host other languages, German would be a good start. Since you chaps spocken zee Englisssshhh and German better than anyone! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":biggrin:" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
