Wow.....

I've just experienced a harmonious convergence 5 different strands of thought leading me to a single conclusion: I miss Mastametz.

PS. Edit to add: No, I'm not planning to start a "free masta!" movement any time soon. I just find myself appreciating his better qualities.

If Masta were still here, think of what hell he would have given BoG, in addition to the great amount of games he'd still be commanding.

well, that's a good point narg.... i'll try to see if i can command one TF low money game any time soon and see what happens.

@drizzo

well, although all factions can be played on all settings, some factions benefit more than others. IMHO, the strongest opening factions are better on lower money settings (ic, dreg, maybe even belts) because they can hold on their own against early bombing and have decent con d (lt ints, lots of hull, cheap bases in case of belts which would allow to build a tele and op and maybe a replacement in case opening con dies). Of this factions, i think the one that can be set back the most (edit) in case opening failed (/edit) is ic, with their crappy minning and high cost ops (5k a piece when you start with 13k is gg. besides, you can't disrupt enemy econ, resulting in even faster and more furious teching)

Because on 1.25 starting you can get Enh Con for Dreg without having to worry about much.

And then Veggy can have fun in his Hvy Int.

Narg wrote:QUOTE (Narg @ Oct 17 2007, 01:22 AM) You need 15k for a bios tech base, and with low money comms actually have to consider whether they will put cash into GS and postpone their tech. IC on the other Hand can get a tech base with enh figs or ints for 10k, do that and punch into the enemy before he has a chance. Kill his econ and don't let him get anything out of his home. You will get your end game tech, they won't live that long.

That is just one strat geared towards beating bios on particular money sett and assuming a particular map. Now, there are strats for avoiding lt/int rush to your home as bios. The point is that the statement - this faction is low money or high money faction doesn't make much sense. This money sett favors carrying out this particular strategy against this faction on this map would make much more sense (also taking into consideration who flies for which team).

Narg just presented a one, viable strat as IC to defeat bios and he also possibly assumed playing on a small/confined map.

Why are we still talking about this? Night already gave the answer.

I think i can sum it up for people who cant figure out how to deal with the raw amazingness of a NightRychune post:

commanding on low money is hard, inexperienced comms cant do it

The reason I personally would not command on settings like that is in pickup games you are much more likely to get a team of idiots as not. Which leads to low money games making both comms want to tear their hair out. Which is bad cuz I have nice hair

Narg wrote:QUOTE (Narg @ Oct 16 2007, 10:22 AM) Because most comms can't run a game without their 1.25 money, it makes you actually have to priorities. And you can easily beat bios on low money settings with GT or IC etc.
Too bad. Scarcity is good in games. Having to make choices with the tech tree is a very good thing.

IC? you mean the faction that just needs 2 tps up to empty a few sectors of he3?

If you lose an opening op as IC, you need to be booting a couple people /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doh:" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />
