I'm a stupid noob.
I originally created this thread as DogHouse and didn't know until recently that you could zoom views in on targets while flying around. I no longer have this problem as I can just zoom in on whatever I'm looking at, and it's close enough I can see the color easily. Still there will be others who do have a problem with colorblindness anyway.

The reason why they are those colors is because in REAL aviation those are the colors used in landing. If you've ever flown you might see some lights near the run way which tell you if your comming in too high or shallow etc... Same thing goes with which door your suppose to go in. I Like realism. Yes I'm a dick.

Well guys, 1.5 months later I still have colorblindness problems. Countless times I've stumbled trying to find the door to switch into an int while in a virtually harmless scout (all my weapons empty) while an HTT is getting to close for comfort. I'd hate for that to happen during a squad game or if I'm piloting an HTT myself.
It very much depends on the lighting level too. Bios sometimes, Giga sometimes, Belts is so-so, TF is so-so, and Dreg is horrid when one side is completely dark - wtf?, By far Rix is the worst. With rix, the only way I can differentiate between one and the other is that one is brighter than the other, but garr landings are a pain as the doors aren't side-by-side so I can't make brightness comparisons. Same goes for tac. Of course GT is pure hassle as everybody knows, colors are ok but the doors are way too small.
I really don't want to install the hi-res packs as they only affect IC which I dont' have problems landing because I look at the structure shapes and know that the end that looks like a whales head (i don't know what else to call it) is the side you go in.
I know this is alot of work but it would be highly appreciated if they could change.
EDIT: BTW... I still have to resort to the Target Base/Autopilot trick but it's time consuming when there isn't any time to lose. It's still a really bad bandage.
EDIT AGAIN: I just read through some of the other threads more thoroughly. I didn't realize taht the door colors might be just merely bmp.mdl's (which was probably what Adaven had posted). Since I had luck in creating my own recticule, I will attempt to change these colors myself and hopefully be able to provide them as a simple artwork change. My plan will be to leave the exit (red/black) alone and change only the entrances. I'll try to change the pattern on the green doors so that there's more green bars and less black bars. If that doesn't work, I'll probably just fill in the black in the green/black with another color - like blue since it is the complete opposite of red on the color wheel, or maybe blue/white. Stay tuned...

Can't figure out which door is which? Press B then P. Let the ship point at the right door and fly there yourself /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Should be good enough until someone releases color blind friendly doors /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
