we all know i'm the local whipping boy and I take it upon myself, but psych does have a point. There is a time when the game quality plummets sharply.

Bomb rushes, even in small games (especially in small games) can be stopped very easily. Learn to probe properly. Learn to camp properly. Seriously, only Giga should have problems surviving against a bomber rush, and they can easily have their tech base planted or bombers of their own up first.
In really small games you won't have enough probers out, the cons still need escort and bomb runs need everyone on them etc..
7 players a side, 2 launch in figs or ints, 5 in scouts.. let's assume the scouts have on average 3 probes. usually a map has 3 sectors between homes and 3-4 routes to enemy home.. roughly it means 1 probe in each sector, which is supposed to cover techrocks, alephs, paths between alephs and helium rocks.. it just won't work. and the enemy can deprobe too. The initial part is the only time when you'd get those 5 probers out, then you're going to have trouble getting 2 people probing at the same time when nothing else important is happening...

And in large games you don't need probes, there's enough ships (or hell, pods) to eye everything..

My favourite size of game is 15 players a side, that's enough to make stealthy approaches more difficult and you really want teamwork (gasp!) in order to get anywhere.. 15 players is also enough to mount two attacks at the same time or fake attacks etc.. more tactics.. it's also more rewarding to sneak with your sb through the long route knowing there really can be people camping the short one, then attacking in group as opposed to either dying on aleph whatever route you chose or going straight for the base shortest possible route and soloing it... the 30 players/side games are just too big on the other hand and having a good situational awareness is going to be real tough..

And really big games are just a pain for the frames/second rate when there's 20 people dropping prox/boosting/firing guns and missiles....
(If enemy has heavy ints spam probes in your sectors! the more probes they can see, the less accurate they are going to become! muahaha! umm, right...)

Back to topic, latenight games..

I wish there will come a time when there are 30 people on Euro daytime.. actually playing, not just afk in lobby or just logged in asgs.. I gave up the afking/playing part myself ages ago so I'm not really helping the situation myself either /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

If I get up in the morning and try to play Alleg, the really late night crew from america is still up, playing totally silly games.. they've had their real games, it's time to do something silly before going to sleep (I guess). I see most of the 3+ teamers during that time.

eu servers... I have to check on it, doing the tracert it seemed might be a little bit better for me than us based..

Bomb rushes are never difficult to stop. Not even in 3v3s.

Well, I guess in a 3v3 a Nix bomb rush is mildly difficult to stop. But not in a 5v5, much less a real game.
