QUOTE That would work for tech that requires only 1 tech to be researched, but how do you sugest I handle techs that isnt as simple to get (IE: stelth bombers)
i did a version of GT for a reason, its the most complicated tech tree.

look closely at things like cm2, and pt bomber

cm2 has lines from sup and exp to it (i wasn't sure how to show OR, i know how to do it in a core, but didn't know how to show it there.

anyway, sb

would be in the adv tac column with a line to it from sf, much like a galv has a line to it from dis 2. there would also be a line to it from bomber in gar.
there is space between the tech for lines to run horizontally and vertically, not all lines need to run horizontally on the top gap, Sb would have been a good example to include in that pic.

QUOTE They still touch in your example, but I might be able to come up with something to avoid that in a later version
yes, but you can still follow lines because they are at different heights and don't run one on top of each other..

in the rounded rectangle is something i wanted to avoid.
with drydock, you can research ship speed 2, and that lets you research pe longtom...
yeah, its actually a line going behind ship speed 2, but for someone who doesn't know the tech tree, you research ship speed 2, then pe longtom.

in the circle, that's just getting wtf? like.

now, new idea

coloured lines.
have a few colours to cycle through, every time a new line is drawn, it uses the next colour in the array, when you reach the last colour you go back to the first

makes it easier to follow when there are a few lines close together, hopefully they wont all be the same colour

Ok, Next release I'll be shore to get the lines cleaned up; Straight lines just don’t seem to be working, especially with the larger cores.
