All in all you are a very dying race // Placing trust upon a cruel world. // You never had the things you thought you should have had //
And you'll not get them now, // And all the while in perfect time // Your tears are falling on the ground. -- Squonk, Genesis
It's basically just a pile of sausages to be honest.RedLion wrote:QUOTE (RedLion @ Sep 17 2010, 11:18 AM) HERESY!

Can we expect the beta to be functioning this week, and up to date?
Or will bard post, and then delete a news item leading people to an out of date and broken beta?

This dev drama bull@#(! sickens me.
I have this image in my head of a bunch of kids playing in a sandbox, building a sand castle. Except that one of them is screaming and punching and demanding that the castle be built his way and demanding all the toys. And if his demands aren't met, he starts smashing the castle until they are.
In the end he gets his toys, and he gets to build the castle his way but he doesn't notice the rest of the kids getting up and leaving in disgust, one by one. They go somewhere else because its more fun to play tag with the kids down the road than to try and play in the sandbox with the kid throwing tantrums.
That screaming and demanding child is the group of demanding devs. The ones threatening to destroy this community if it doesn't go their way or to make a separate one. The ones abusing every aspect of this community's systems and rules. For those of you short on history lessons, that kind of damage to Alleg has happened at least once once with Guns & co (oh the irony) and it looks like its starting to happen again. Here's another history lesson for you: This community was much, much smaller after that.
The screaming children have complained and abused every shred of goodwill and effort and lenience made because they still don't have the biggest sandcastle or all the toys. Because the adults (ZLs, TE) won't let them play with the lawnmower or the real tools that keep the playground going. They seem to think because they rule the sandbox with all of their kicking and screaming that they should rule the entire playground too. And rather than grow up and show that they have the maturity to do so, they continue to kick and scream. It worked in the sandbox, why shouldn't it work everywhere else?
Here's a question to this community: How many potential or former devs have we lost because they decided it wasn't worth trying to work with the screaming children? How many vets have we lost (and continue to) because said devs appear to be working hard to destroy everything those vets have worked towards or enjoy? Or because other morons who are full of themselves (see: UncleSuck, etc.) make playing or even logging in not feel worth doing?
I think my biggest regret in this community is spending as much time on balance, core development and training as I did. Because if things continue going the way they are, the screaming kid is going to be the only one left. And he doesn't deserve all of the building and tending I've helped do to the rest of the playground.
Have fun with your sandbox. I wish you the best when you're the only ones left to play in it.

The thread was derailed and dying, it was much better that way. See: Xer's post of dev bashing. Attention all, drama over, the people that cared about the leadership have left, those of us who remain (I think that is me) have a deep well of patience that hasn't yet been run dry. Nothing more to see here.UncleBuck wrote:QUOTE (UncleBuck @ Sep 17 2010, 01:48 PM) Can we expect the beta to be functioning this week, and up to date?
