Why would anyone join fat squads, where you don't even get to play squad games... I would quit, and just play pick up games.. after all its just another game on my Harddrive.
Only the most persistent squad members get to play 5 of 10 squadgames, only 3 of 10 squad's have a high attendance at squadgames that they have to leave many players in NOAT.
If you wanna plays squadgames.. join small squads.. its 100% guaranteed that you get to play.
Most squad are trying to get a good team of players playing squadgames. Even the "high" profile squads are trying to minimize the lose of players by recruiting by the dozen.
More squads and more diversity is great and all, but when a squad is entered into a tournament or schedules a game with another squad then fails to show the minimum required for an ACTUAL GAME to be played it tends to adversely affect the squad that actually DID show up. So SPQR trying to play SGs can very literally hurt squad attendance for squads that normally have a great time.
So I'm gonna say that instead of risking this that most SLs will simply say no to Sprock and instead go play with GB or someone.
As for the rest of your post, none of that is a reason to join SPQR or keep SPQR going. There are several other squads in need of active players (GB/BS/DickSuM and ACE could probably use some blood as well) and anyone joining them pretty much has a guarantee of playing in the squad games. They also get the benefit of training from their more experienced squad mates.
I would venture a guess that most people aren't against a 11th squad in alleg (maybe a few), but rather people would like to see 10 squads with a reasonable guarantee of skill and attendance than 11 squads when one of them is basically nothing anyways.

As a final word from my part in this, the community must grow rather than shrink, new players must have the opportunity to join a squad, so they can get a more strong compromise with the whole community, too many mercs floating around will finally transform in a lot of them doing stupid things in PUGs because they don't represent a team, and they don't have the commitment to behave and act smartly. Those guys then, spoil the whole game experience.
As I said before, I don't see a real recruit policy in most squads, not only in SPQR, that somehow worries me, I cannot believe that we have 500+ squadded players, and when I play on SGs half of my team have to wait in NOAT, with 11 vs 12 or so player games. A year+ ago perhaps we had 300 squadded players, but I can remember a much better showup.

This is changing though.
RT
SRM
PK
SF
all field large teams
looks like
XT
is starting to as well.
This means over half the squads provide decent turnouts and decent games

What is a "decent turnout?" 20vs20? With 34 members on BS we are lucky if 10 to 15 can play any givin Sunday. Due to work, church or timezone conflicts.
SysX by far from what I see has the best turnout of all squad on a consitant basis. Is this because they recruit "active" players. Players commited to making every game? Or is it luck:)
SRM SF and XT have all pulled themselves up in the last year or more. Im sure it was a long hard road for all 3 and took a lot of work.
I myslef have done all I can to recruit, train and try to improve BS. We have made small steps toward that goal. But everytime I feel we are making real progress it seems we lose a Siasoma, L1ngus, AR, CB, Chi, to other squads and others who just stop playing.
Like me our not, Ive worked my ass of to rebuild BS into a competitive squad. While we may only be able to beat SPQR, and get lucky beating a DSM or GB here and there, its worth the work.
I know squads are out there recruiting other squads best members.

It is not unusual for us to have 20 vs 20 games against the teams I listed above consistently.
Also tbh I don't know of any squads who actually recruit from other squads. The only people SysX recruits are newbies. Everyone else comes willing and freely.
PK may actively recruit from other squads but they would be the only ones I could think of and I doubt even they do it

Nah, I don't see them doing that at all. It's more or less player preference, than active recruitment.

Well I know of 6 former members who I would call recruited to other squads and 1 current BS member who is actively being recruited.
And please dont tell me SysX doesnt talk good players into joining SysX of there on free will. thats like a Steelers team telling the Lions they not trying to steal their best player. Oh wait thats a bad example. What player would the Steelers want from the LOINS FFS!!!!
Spidey I know yoyu talk to people. You may not call that recruited from other squads but some people do. SysX is a very attractive squad to be part of. as is RT and PK. I know you get guys drunk and make them sell their soulds to the devil:)

I have this impression that PK is for the more mature 'Ive got a life as well' players or those who are over drama. Sort of like the senior citizens/gentlemens club of allegiance.
But thats just my impression. Based on my age, it probably should have been my squad preference.
they do smell a bit like methylated spirits and old people though, but for those who know the story about the old bull and the young bull, Id rather be the old bull

Kerosene bath anyone??

Complete BS ryjam. SysX only pursue un-squadded players, players who are squadded choose to join SysX of their own free will, I think the only time you might see SysX recruiting a squadded player is when that squadded player has said they don't want to be part of their squad anymore.
Please show me your 6 former members and 1 active BS member being actively recruited, the only BS member I know having to do anything with SysX is Pico and that is not spidey recruiting that is spidey "grooming".
