Speaking personally, I logged in to try to play games. When I couldn't play games because of people's stupidity, I stopped trying as much. Then when I could get into a game, the odds were massively stacked against us. Night after night of that you start to say "Why bother?" It's not fun when it's a slaughter every night. When all the whores stack a side against everyone else, there's only half the community having fun.

Odd. Why would a game die that's effectively being held hostage by a small section of the community? I can't speak for anyone else, but nightly games became a waste of time, and then my job killed SGs. How do you stick with a game you can't play?

Pook, Thal, BV, TE and others tried to keep a thriving community and got nothing but crap for it.

I do remember all those forum posts wondering who was going to get banned that night. Man, those pages and pages of speculation. Especially the ones where people would pre-arrange times to meet just to be there for the nightly banning. You could hardly find any news about Dev topics or complaints about stacking just for the sheer number of threads speculating about XT bans.

Can't figure out why this game died so many people left.

Once again, if you try to punish people for being good, by not letting them play with who they want to play with, you will kill the game
it's your responsibility to get better, not anyone else's to get worse/quit playing/play with or for someone they don't want to

additionally -
Noir was a core dev/gameserver operator who was incredibly active - which is something we do not have now
not to mention XT had the highest % of capable commanders of any other squad - most games played were involved at least 1 xt comm (in fact I probably commed more games than anyone at the time)
but it seemed to be priority to piss of noir and ban xt commanders

Can't figure out why core development has stagnated, server reliability has declined, and number of willing commanders/games being played has tanked

Gonna be pretty hard to only play games with the last few people who are "good" in a year or so.

The biggest factor for me have been the network changes prevented me from playing at home.

Allegiance taught me a lot about life to be honest, the thick skin I gained here learning to play from Metz, Ozzy and Shiz is something I could not live without.

I think I learned the most about Allegiance from Metz.
IMO It was a blow to the community to have him pertinently banned back then.

and the last time(s) i've seen you logged in I've thought "somebody just needs to boot him until he either gets better or quits"
because you have been pretty terrible considering your level of experience

everyone just wants to ban all the commanders because they think it's going to make their game experience more pleasant

well you have it, all the hostile and boot-happy commanders are gone or banned (because they get banned for booting people who make their commanding experience unpleasant - moreso than it already is)

i haven't commanded for a few days now due to exams and i am thoroughly enjoying seeing the number of players online. good to know i haz so much powah over the community

between you not playing and mach going down today when there *were* some people on - the game's been dead basically all day

I mean, how did we survive back in 2000 without constant guidance from you Allegiance gods?
