Defintely mention that July 4th game, it should be a good time with lots of old farts who now suck at flying.

Yeah, but we should send a second notice for that. Too early, old farts will forget.

Yeah don't think much is happening with MrC at this point.
We should probably set up the newsletter though - back in the old days I used a yahoo newsgroup for Allegiance Plus, but I don't know what works best these days. We can send that out with a second email.

The key for me is that I don't want to invest effort unless there is official sanction that we're going to actually email anything.

THIS for a long time now. Wordpress is insane, I use it for 90% of my clients just for the simple fact the framework can be manipulated so well and it allows the non developers to update it frequently with little help.
As you can see the site directly publish's the news feed from our IPBoard. However it was never really designed correctly and looks @#(!. I would love the IPB homepage to be replaced with a wordpress one and do away with the current html static page. Il bet there is enough bridges out there for IPB and WP. Failing all that install the frontend IPB system and redesign it.
Surprisingly it is difficult to find bridges for most forums so they integrate well with Wordpress. It seems to be easier with older versions of forums such as we use so maybe there is a decent bridge out there. I have been waiting for a bridge to be developed for vBulletin 4 since I have a license, but no luck. For us I do not think it is worth the effort to try and link the two anyway. I just don't see TE having the time to accomplish that either. But installing Wordpress should take 10 minutes at most and then others could create and maintain the content.

Yeah, this is a must. It will be easier to get players to come back if we are promoting a specific event. Otherwise they will just come back and see the servers empty. Get them to show up for one game and hope it gets them interested in playing more.

You know in my opinion people leave/stop playing for a reason, saying there is a new version out isnt going to get you a very active player if at all. Or for any considerable amount of time.

You may be right for most inactive players, but in my experience, email blasts announcing something new about a website/game
does arouse some interest. I do think some people will log in, and may even realize why this liked this game so much in the past.
It couldn't hurt.
