If I ask a cop to come check under the bed for the crazy man then its a-ok
If a cop comes into my house against my wishes to check for the crazy man under the bed it is NOT a-ok.
If the government gives him the right to enter against my wishes it is even worse

My understanding is that the second was occurring, while I can understand to a certain degree, and not a good thing. If the reason was the third , as I said above, it is even worse.

And it's not like this was a Tom Clansy scenario where the suspect had a suitcase nuke. It seemed like a massive overreaction :glare:

how about when you have a terrorist on the loose in your city, with a bunch of more explosives to be used for future events (like this one had), we'll let your cops not "overreact" and have them give up after a couple of hours of searching.

This sounds ugly if true. My impression was that these were voluntary searches. Also, you should know that police are allowed to search a home without a warrant if they are in hot pursuit of a dangerous fugitive. That probably covers most of the early searches.
