QUOTE .... problem is tigers do it better than us, they catch the old deers and oxes, some cubs and small game, but they keep their ecosystem alive by letting all the other species thrive... they allow the others to grow and survive, even if to eat them afterwards but with a long run approach, life is a marathon.[/quote]

No, apex predators predate their entire ecosytem until there are too few prey to sustain their population. We are the only beings who *consciously*, not instinctively, aims to maintain longterm sustainability.

The fact of the matter is that many predators hunt their populations into death via starvation. This is the famous chart of Lynx vs. Hare population charts. Note how the Lynx population chases the Hare population.

Here is the human population chart:

Note a constant increase in population (except during the height of the Black Plague). We have never reached that state where our population decreases because of our inability to sustain ourselves. The *correctly* perceived risk is that we eventually will though.

OK, I've been granted an Upload.com publishers account. They want a URL and description of the "company" . Should I provide my own description? Or do we have one that's "official"?

Well, talk about Europe or anywhere else except woody Canada, Iberian Lynx is almost extinct and hares are by the billions, we are talking about human interaction here too...

The point is, lynx and hare should survive to maintain the consensus, the BALANCE, what I am stating is a HUMAN IDEA, balance up everything so it will sustain itself through the ages.

But, it's an idea learnt from Nature itself, from the same predators that know instinctively that if they wipe every other animal around they'll need to move, it's neolitic foraging made thought.

Interesting example though not representative of the whole planet & out of context here, we are not lynxes, we are not hares, WE ARE FRIGGING DRAGONS WHO WANT TO PLAY BEING A DRAGON AMONG DRAGONS FOR AS LONG AS WE CAN.

Not a single hare squad that I could name or know of...

Thanks for your input, very interesting and out of place but enlighting in more ways than you think.

BTW On a side note; I am fighting for the Iberian Wolf not to be deprotected by Spanish law, and right now the Canis Lupus Signatus (a subspecies of the gray wolf from the Iberian Peninsula) is on the brink of being massacred... in fact it is begining to be.

BTWbis, Wolfquest http://gratis.portalprogramas.com/WolfQuest.html a game to simulate being a wolf...

This Iberian Wolf was rescued from a pet shop in Madrid, they sold him to a conservationist that nurtured this magnificent fellow and then set him free.

Thanks, but I don't think its out of place. I am not supporting mass human expansionism, but people who think Humans are above the cold laws of nature are absolutely wrong. There is a peak for us, its just *very* high. We will reach that point some day, and either through order or chaos, we will be subject to the same decline as any other animal.

MW, we are not talking about Mankind, all species stats resemble others given the same circumstances, I agree, your examples are enlightening as I already told you, but there are no other species to chase around, you should change in that equation the hare for "enjoyment" or any other concept that makes us want to PLAY ALLEGIANCE.

We are all predators here, not a single lamb, what will make us survive as species is the joy of playing our game, I hope I explain myself well, as you know English isn't my mother language.

Following this thought, the only way we will still play Allegiance in another 10 years is that we still enjoy it, you cannot be happy with any playing course unless it is competitive and it makes you reach your top trying to be better every new time you play it...

Unless all dragon squads are fearful to the others and SG's ARE TOUGH AS HELL FOR ALL SQUADS we won't achieve it, that's the main idea behind my line of thinking, I am not talking about PK or any other squad, I am talking about ALL SQUADS, I am talking about ALLEGIANCE surviving through the game turmoil and our RL's getting in the middle and summer and winters and springs, that's only attainable through a concept that makes us come back here to share and play: enjoyment.

*sigh*

People gravitate to winners. Winners ebb and flow. People don't like to lose.

Actively recruiting players to your squad only when they aren't in a squad is exactly how to keep having for long soul crushing periods of time where one or two squads dominate things. Other then a few disgruntled types like myself, who is no great shakes even in his own book, there aren't enough players not in a squad to make a lick of difference.

Frankly the whole bit about honor and not recruiting players seems rather Machiavellianof you ;)

I don't think there is any problem with uneven squads. The issue is with squads scheduling matches against squads out of their skill range.

That being said though, I strongly support Kopperhead's proposals as far as player retention and recruitment is concerned.
