I would suggest traveling in June or July when the chance of encountering the extremities of the Wiltshire climate is at a minimum. The 5 - 15mm British snowdrifts should not be underestimated and have even been known to defeat seasoned winter travelers from some of the coldest regions of Russia.

The cathedral does have a nice clock though, and the railway station has a Costa Express machine which serves fortifying hot chocolate with those little paper tubes of cocoa powder (yummy).

Why don't you look at the news that China buys tons of scrap from US? Like red copper, aluminum? Put them in containers and ship them to China so they can make stuff. And pay in USD.
