IIRC I think having limited lives turns pods off automatically. When I tested it last night I suicided on my gar (with ff on of course) and there was no pod, just death.

if pods are ON , it would make picking people up very important and thus, making it a more strategic game.
i expect lots of deaths on the opening ^^

and many sitting on base also :\

I think that when you select limited lives, it turns pods off - but you can then turn them back on if wanted

Oh. I'll have to check that.

EDIT: Just checked and pods do indeed work. I must have just suicided on gar a bit too hard.
